New gun ban proposal and petition to block
« on: Feb 26, 2007, 02:52:02 PM »
Some of you may have caught on to this over on pirate, but for those who haven't heard of it, dems are again proposing another clintonesque gun ban.  If you feel so inclinded, I've attached a link to the petition to stop this bill.

What's really sickening is that, given the choice, many people would choose to be controlled over being free.  :headshake:

Seriously, I've never voted before for anything, but I'll be damn sure to get all set up to do so this time around.  I don't wanna take any chances, though I think we have a 99% chance of a dem president :shudder:

Voting for "cradle to grave" government is at least voting for something. NOT voting...sitting on your ass and watching it happen to you is the worst kind of surrender.

An uninformed voter is only marginally better than one voting for a dem.  I don't have the attention span to pay attention and get up on all the issues, not to mention my memory problems keep me from remembering so much of what I read.  I'm pretty sure I'm registered republican though, so blindfold me and point me to the right and I'll be fine...

Not everything needs an in depth study. Some things you just "know" are right and others are wrong. Usually it's local and state issues that are more detailed. On the Federal level we're just voting for people that most closely represent our individual beliefs. Oddly enough...I have seldom found one as conservative as I am.

I recently, as a protest, informed the NRC that I changed my party affiliation. I cannot stand the kowtowing and pandering that the majority of (elected) Republicans engage in. President Reagan is spinning in his grave.

i'd be on another rock doing the same thing.

theres a couple of things that can push this country into violence. 1. gun ban and trying to take those guns from the citizens. 2. this proposed highway from mexico to canada. texas legislation passed it (didnt listen to the citizens they "represent"), texas supreme court just said that emmanent domain can be applied for any possibility of financial gain. lets just say, do you remember the alamo?

another thing on gun bans and the government trying to eliminate the 2nd amendment, some of the politicians claim that the 2nd ammendment is about the reserves, not the citizens. hmmm, now how did the forerunners of this country know about the military reserves over 100 years before they were made? they didnt, its frieking idiot politicians who dont know anything.

Does that mean that illegals will just bypass the us and head right on up to canada?  If that's the case I'm down!

yes it does, but according to pro gun ban politicians citizens should not have the right to bear arms.

me personally, i believe that every person should have the ability to arm and protect themselves.

Does that mean that illegals will just bypass the us and head right on up to canada?  If that's the case I'm down!

nope, for starters it means that their will be a very wide highway going up the US, and if you own land that is in their way the government will take it from you, few questions asked. illegals could leave this proposed highway at any point, providing them excellent access to the country, and an easy way to bypass the border. in response to a whole lot of complaints, politicians proposed limiting the width to 800ft. i am completely against it, for starters the politicians completely ignored those they are supposed to represent (as usual), the texas supreme court came to a decision that, in basic terms, the claim to immenent domain can be made if their is even the slightest chance of profit. the process to declare immenent domain is being made much shorter if the politicians get what they want. apparantly their expecting alot of cases of this to pop up soon.

to my mind Immanent domain is the biggest crock that I have ever heard of. If I work all my life to get a good piece of land no man should be able to move me from it. Luckily I live far enough in the boonies, in the middle of a flood plane (highest point in it, has never flooded in the last 100+ years) so I doubt Wal-Mart is going to be bulldozing me ;)

I think they should make this a law, three strikes and you are out. It seems that every so often these idiots introduce the same initiatives over and over until they get one passed and eventually they usually do. There should be a law that prohibits these constant attempts at stealing our civil rights.
