Now its unwired and ready to lift off.  I need to do some mods to the x-cab for the 3rd shifter and remove the doors fenters and hood (so its lighter) and then I'll be ready to start the lifting :wink:


I'm hoping to get some garage time tomorrow to work on the new cab so I can move forward.

good luck. We did this with a Tacoma after one of the TTORA guys rolled his at Tellico I will try and dig up the link for ya of the build up. What are you going to do about a bed? We did a tube bed that was pretty sweet.

Well more progress today we started the day around 10AM and finished around 8:30 PM.  First we put on the tiny tires so we wouldnt have to lift as high, removed the bed, Dug some holes to drop the little tires in and lifted the cab off.  At that point We decided to go ahead and throw the other cab on.  It doesnt quite fit right yet, still needs alittle trimming.  After that we rolled it back in the garage and started bolting things down underneath and in the engine bay.  After about 6 hours of 4 guys working on different things I have no idea where it stands.  I know that there is alot left but I never imagined it would get this far today.  I took pics up until removing the cab and the camera card was full.  I'll get current pics tomorrow.

It'll be better in a few weeks.  I got the cab notched and mounted, most of the wiring done and I'm ordering the jd2 bender for the 1 3/4 dom exo and flat bed.

Yup.  Its gettin close.  I'm gettin a huge tax return this year so new tubing bender and lots of dom.

Well I spent 16 hours in the garage yesterday.  The cab is mounted. I swapped the complete wiring harness from the standard cab.  Dash is back in,stereo is wired for the amps, fenders are on, mounted and wired the front LED's, and it runs.  For some reason every thing works exept the heater fan.  The relay clicks but has no power.  I'll post up pics tonight.

nice work and I like the flat bed too, though I think it should be closer to the cab with the tank sticking through. Do you have plans for that space, like co2 or a tool box?

The flat bed was an old catwalk from work.  It was in the bone yard and was a perfect fit.  Its just a temp thing so I can make a local run on the 31st.  Ive got a jd2 bender on order to do a full exo and tube flat bed.  Currently my tool box is sitting on top of the tank to fill the gap and I'm working on extensions for the front to house the filler neck and the other side will just be cosmetic.  I'll get more pics  probably mon. also the bed is not mounted in the pics so it now sits level.

Those are actually custom 1 off springs.  Those are 36inch swamper's on 4inch betts. Center pin moved forward from production springs, and spring rate stiffend up. They flex great, but for practical issues they are fare from bolt on.  You have to move the steering box way forward and extend the steering stem.  CJ

Do you know of anyreason that the third body style Xcab body liek you are using would not fit on a first gen 4runner?  My body is rotten and I found a good deal on a 92 pickup with a blown motor and it is looking tempting.
