Hey,
Im now in the market for a stock birf replacement. I herd the longs were pretty good and the profeilds suck. Donse anybody have any info on the birf eliminator ?? I havent herd anything about it, mabe thats good cause nobodys break'n em or nobodys runn'n em. If I went longs I'd get my spares smurfed. I'm runnin 5.71's w/ lockrite in front, duel's w/ 4.7s in second case so i think that puts me around 240:1. Im gonna carry spare rears, but how stron are they ??
                                        Thanx-

I have heard alot of good stuff about the longs, but if you throw those in I would carry an extra 3rd member cause I think those would be your next weakest link

Personnaly I wouldn't go with  the new style longs, as a mechanical engineer I know that the ring give signifient strength to the birfield because it prevent the cracks from forming on the edge of the bell.

So I would go bellfield or smurfield or longfield only if he still make the one with a ring but I'll stay away from the ringless ones.

You can get Longs either way with or without the ring. I'm running the old style with the ring and have read that the new ones arent as strong but allow tighter turning angle. Oh ya, 5.71s wont last long.

Ya those 5.71's just don't have the gear mesh .  Look at the pinion size difference between those and 5.29's. They won't last ezpecially if you like to wind tell the valves float
