e-brake freezing up????

i have a 90xcab and the e-brake seems to freeze up i put on on all new shoes/hardware still does it . can any one tell me why,how, and how do i fix the problem? thanks

Could be an issues with the brake cable itself.

ok i've narrowed it down to the cable so if it's freezing then how do i prevent this

My experience with yotas here in the rusty north east is that if the e-brake is sticking it is where the arms pivot in the backing plate.  The pivot pieces are some sort of cast aluminum stuff and the arms and pins are steel so they corroed quite nicely.  It is just a lot of lubing and cleaning to get them to free up.  If it really is the cable, then the best way is to replace it.  Maybe not the cheapest but it will be the best fix.

You can get some of that graphite spray stuff like for locks to lube everything up. I think the ebrake cable runs through a sleve doesnt it? If it does some lube would be good in there too.

yeah, it does :thumbs: 

eazy, if you wind up replacing the cable, get the parts at a hardware store.  All you need is some aircraft cable, and the splicing stuff.  I had to fix mine, and that was the best (and cheapest route)
