I am in the middle of SASing my 94 4-Runner. I'm running a Toy axle with 1.5" wheel spacers. I currently have a set of Soft 8 Black Rockcrawlers that are 15X8 with 3.75" of backspacing that I'd like to put my 37X12.5 MT/R's on. I have 4" springs and a 2" body lift so I'm gonna be pretty tall. Would I be wasting my money to get a set of wheels with 2.5" backspacing for a little more width and stability? I'd like to run the ones I have if it's not going to be a substantial difference and spend the money elsewhere. I've read pros and cons but I'd like to hear it from the guys that have been there and done that.

You just have to keep in mind that you will lose a little bit of turning radius and it will be tougher on your bearings.

US Wheel makes a 2" BS wheel.
That's what I'm gonna be running.

if anyone plans of running DIY bead locks now or later down the line make sure the wheels are not reverse centered rims.. imo you cannot mount a tire with a beadlock on a reversed centered rim... unless the drop center is no larger then 12 3/4 in diameter

It would make me nervous.  I have enough trouble with the trunion bearings as it is.  I've heard of plenty of people that do it, but personally I'd just get a wider axle.

The local tire shop was able to get some black steelies with 2.5" backspacing for 46 bucks a wheel so I'm gonna go ahead and try them out. I'm going to need all the stability I can get. Thanks for the replies.

Running a 15x8 rim with 2.5" b.s. will only put the middle of the tire .25" further out then a standard 10" rim with 3.75" b.s. Run it. I've had no problems with my junk.
