Tacoma auto tranny in an 85 p/u

At the Toyota Trail Riders Jambo I was talking to Marlin about a project that I am thinking about building for my daughter.  I am going with a auto so that she can drive easier and safer.  Marlin said that a newer tranny would be better so that I would have a cooler and be able to use a crawler that he makes.  Can someone elaborate on this.  Is there a crawler box for the newr auto trannys.  I know that the only one made for the one in the 85 are made by Inchworm and quite long.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

You would need to find a tranny out of a 93-95 1/2 T-100 V6 3.0 or there is a rare 89-95 22RE with an auto which are both 23 spline. Then you  would need the MC-14210, 30-4GT V6 Adapter Plate, $349. then you need to convert the wiring over and you are ready to run gear drive t-case or cases

Thanks!  The turbo auto tranny is the 23 spline.  I thought that I had heard that it was 21.

Marlin was likely talking about putting an A340F in place of your the earlier A340H transmission. The A340F was available in 95.5+ vehicles, and possibly some older T100's, but don't quote me.

I honestly don't know if the F will bolt to the 22r series motor. If so, great. Otherwise you can go with an A340H and an adapter from Jim over at InchwormGear.com and a Marlin dual case setup from there.
