The case just twists, not lifts.

2nd gen 4runner is a little bit of a cluster **** round the back of the cases, i'd heard of other clocked adapters [probably more then 10*] requiring a little bit of body lift .  i haven't had a look at one of these upclose installed yet....

uuuu I donīt think you can rotate or twist the t-case without lifting the top... ok basicly you lift the right side of the t-case so the drive shaft lifts and you there fore have a flat belly.  ?? right ??  but the actual top of the t-case turns slitely to the left side so the shifters are not pointing directly up.
damn now I am even confused but I hope I am right and I hope you guys can under stand this.

ya imagine a circle, its just turning 10* to the left. even though the tcase isnt a circle the shifter just moves to the left and the lower part of the case where the front driveline leads to moves upward.

What are most people doing for crossmembers, I know Front range makes a clocked crossmember, I guess better question would be what are you doing about skid plating?

Thanks

FROR makes a skid that bolts to the cases.  I think that the crosmember they sell is a better design than the others with traditional tcase mounts, while I do not like the fact that the cases will directly take impacts from landing on them.  I like how it distributes the torque out to the framerails at the tcases so your motor mounts are not seeing all of the additional torque.

Actually FROR cuts the normal skid plate in half, then you bolt on each piece, then re-weld them together once they are mounted.

I just spent 20minutes or so reading BigMikes write up on why the MC-07 is so much better and superior to the MC-05.  The feeling I got is that the 05 is now :pokinit: and "YOU" need to buy the 07, come awn, what gives?.............My #402 has been in a buggy since 2003 and does not see much high speed anymore.... if that matters....

IMUZ,

In the article I wrote:

Quote
....Certainly there are remaining happy customers today who are beating the odds and are still using the MC05 Crawler. Of course "using" is a relative term. All parts fail in different situations. Those who apply more mileage to the MC05 Crawler are certainly increasing the probability that the unit will fail, whereas those who limit the use thereof prolong the life expectancy. This is basic wear-and-tear 101...

and

Quote
....I have heard the usual comment where someone says, "Well I know of many people who have MC05 Crawlers that are still working", which I am most glad to hear!

Nobody who owns a Crawler with a single row 6209 Bearing is "up :pokinit: creek" until the Crawler fails. In the same way, nobody who owns a Crawler with a double row 5209W Bearing is "up :pokinit: creek" until it fails either.

All drivetrain parts will fail at some time limited only to material science. We have seriously warrantied dozens of 6209 Crawlers, and someday we will probably warranty dozens 5209W Crawlers as well (far into the future at the current failure rate). Remember that today there are more and more people getting into the sport too.

The article you read is about 7 years "late" in the making. It is an article that should have been written when the MC07 came out, but MCI lacked the advertising means at that time.

I decided to write the article because of another company who has began selling 6209 bearing dualcase adapters and were presenting information that was false, unproven, mechanically erroneous, and was alleging information directed incorrectly against our 5209W Crawler.

I have already quoted these statements made by this competitor and opposed all of them with proper mechanical information to the best of my ability in the article you read. To this day MCI has not received an apology for the misuse of knowledge presented by this company.

To protect the validity of the 5209W Marlin Crawler, and the consumer confidence in the market place, I felt compelled to write the article. The article is written for the consumer and not for the business.

If there exists a product that has stood the test of time and remains unaltered as the most reliable product in existence, then it must be made known.

I yet have more quotes from this company regarding completely!!! incorrect information about Thrust Washer usage, which was also incorrectly stated (again) incorrectly about our 5209W Crawler. Also they have copied key design features of our Crawler, in my opinion in order to gain customers through our successful design improvements.

My goal in completing the article (as you can see at the bottom) is to have shown clear and concise evidence for the original, creative, and innovate designs made by Marlin Czajkowski of Marlin Crawler Inc.
