damn that trucks to clean to wheel haha, what size rims are you running? i just picked up some 36's as well and planning on 8" rim.

Those are actually 15"x9" wheels. Those are the wheels that were on the truck when I bought it. Hopefully in the future I'll be running a set of 15"x10" Allied beadlocks. I have to kinda watch the spending a little bit right now because my wife has a 66 Mustang that I need to start working on here pretty soon..

Yeah, I have been putting a lot of time in to this thing. I've been actually working on it for a little over a year now. I probably could have been done with it sooner, but I'm a little anal when it comes to projects like this.....plus, I just had it in my mind the kind of rig I wanted when I started this thing and set out to get it there.

By the way, I sure appreciate all the positive feedback on this build.....it does a person good to hear that...

Actually the headroom isn't too bad...at least for a first gen truck. I did have to flip the angle mounts that came with the sliders to get the seats down a bit though.
I agree with you on the first gen trucks too....I think that is my absolute favorite Toyota truck. Actually, it was my first Toyota truck too.....I drove an 80 model 2 wheel drive truck for 17 years until I bought my 02 Tacoma 4 door..

Did you use an aftermarket wiring harness for the engine swap or did you piece together one yourself? Any more information on the adapter to run the toyota cases? Does that motor have a lot of power in your application? Thanks.

Oddmar, you need to find a cali/arizona bed for that thing

For the engine, I used the Howell fuel injection harness. It seems like a really well done harness and was pretty easy to put in. I also ripped out all the existing truck harness and replaced it with a 12 circuit Painless chassis harness. As for the adapter, it's an Advanced Adapter TH350 to Toyota adapter. As for engine power, I actually haven't even ran it yet. I still need to get the exhaust put on so I can hook up the O2 sensor and I also have to get the flatbed finished so I can mount the battery and fuel cell in the bed. I'm guessing it's going to have plenty of power though....especially with the dual cases.

Thanks again guys.....I sure do appreciate the positive feedback. I have been really suprised on the feedback on the dash....that was just kinda something I came up with and really didn't expect it to come out looking that good. As far as progress on this thing, I've been getting some tube work done on it. I've got the front bumper done, tube doors and most of the rear half for the flatbed done. I still have to tie in the rest of the exo into the main hoop though. I'm hoping to have that done this weekend. Here's a few more pics of the progress.....I'll get more up as soon as I can. By the way, the rear section is not yet welded to the truck if your wondering....

Well, there not the stock one's from this truck....but they are stock Toyota latches. I went and picked up a set from an 86 at the junkyard. I'm thinking just about any year model would work because Toyota hasn't changed that design in quite sometime. On those particular latches I took off the door lock mechanism and everything else that I didn't need. Works pretty well.

Well, I got a few updated pics for this build. I figure I'm about a week and a half from having this thing moving under it's own power. All I've got left is a little bit of wiring, exhaust, battery and a windshield. I can't wait to get this thing on the trail...

Actually I fabbed it myself. I kinda styled it after the All Pro flatbed kit. I just kinda liked the looks of that bed. Oh and thanks..

Well, I haven't really hit the trails with it yet. I did finally get this thing done though. I just got the drive shafts in it this last week and have been playing a little bit on my 10 acres. I think the auto/converter choice I made is going to work pretty well. About the only issue I have with the converter choice is that when I'm in low/low and 2wd, the rear brakes don't hold just real well. Now when I'm in 4wd, the brakes seem to work just fine and hold all 4 tires in place. I should be able to get you a more detailed report on how this thing is going to work after labor day weekend. We have a trip planned up at Grand Lake here in Oklahoma where there are plenty of rocks and trails to play on.

It does look pretty high for the tires...what size u running? springs?

Yeah, it does sit just a bit high right now. The springs are the Marlin 4 inch. I hoping once I get them broke in that it sits a bit lower. Oh and the tires are 36 inch Iroks.
