This was my old bedlined tow rig  I loved the Rhino lining but sold it when gas was really high and bought a diesel. Now diesel is high and I wished I still had it. That big block sounded nice.

what did that cost you to rhino line that whole thing?

So you used regular Durabak to do that? I am very interested in this and i want some details on how and what you did. Thanks.

Yep, just regular Durabak. It was a lot easier to do than what I was expecting. I got an undercoating gun from Eastwood for under $20 to do the spraying. As for prep work, that was pretty easy as well...just good old 60 grit to get a nice rough finish for the bedliner to grab on to. The Durabak is then thinned 10% with Xylene and then sprayed using about 60 psi of air pressure. Just be sure your ready to spray it all because once you open the Durabak container it starts setting up. Oh and try not to get in a big hurry..just take your time. I think the hardest part of the whole thing was doing the masking and prep work. Here's a couple of links of where I ordered the Durabak and the spray gun.

Thanks a lot. I hope to get some updated pictures posted soon. I've got a couple of PRP Daily Driver seats on order for it. Plus I hope to be starting the flatbed and cage within the next couple of weeks.

Hey no problem. I take it your thinking about doing the same thing on your truck? If you have any more questions about it be sure to post up, I certainly don't mind sharing my experience.
I started to do mine in a bright yellow and tan interior but decided it would look cooler pulling it behind my red tacoma if it was the same color.  8)

Who wants to make me a dash like the one that is in the red truck?

Except with no holes...as I would put my own stuff in there....

I expect PMs....

Well, I thought I would post up some updated pics....I still haven't got started on the flatbed/cage yet, but I did get the dash all buttoned up, the cb installed and some very nice PRP Daily Drivers installed. I'm starting to get anxious to get this thing done.. :)

hey, your truck is looking kick ass for sure.  you're doing basically what I plan on doing soon.  I will be putting a 4.3 in, I have dual cases now, 23 spliner in just the rear case though, th350 etc. how did you mount the engine?  did you set it back at all?  what are you using for a torque convertor? what are you using for a radiator?  sorry about all the questions, any help would be great.  thanks

Hey no problem with the questions....I certainly don't mind sharing what I've done. Of course, I've picked up a lot of stuff around here and on pirate4x4.
Anyway, to answer some of your questions. As for the engine mounts, I fabricated my own mounts. I cut the stock mounts completely off and plated the frame where I planned on mounting the engine. When I first fabbed them up, I made them a bit long so once I dropped the engine in I could cut them down to fit. As for setting the engine back, I didn't do that. I did put a 1 inch body lift on though to give myself just a little more hood room for the motor. When I was positioning the motor, I went ahead and hooked up the tranny and transfer cases so I could get everything positioned just right. I then cut and tack welded the mounts, both engine and transfer case, then pulled everything back out and finish welded everything. You'll also want to check in to a set of Sanderson block hugger headers to give you clearance on the frame rails.
Now, as for the torque converter, I'm just using a stock Chevy 4x4 converter. Now, I still haven't driven the truck yet so I don't know if that was the right choice or not.....hopefully it was. By the way, if your using a TH350, check into the Lokar shifter...it has a mechanical linkage and seems to work really well.
The radiator, I just used a Griffin 22" x 19" aluminum dual core radiator. If you take the time to position things right you should be able to use a Derale race fan (reverse rotation) and a spacer to get the fan up close to the radiator. I didn't have enough room to use the clutch fan at all.
Well, I hope this helps. Here's a few pictures of the motor mounts and an additional cross member I build for the transmission to give it some extra support. By the way, feel free to ask more questions if you need some help..

Those PRP seats are pretty great. I would definitely recommend them. As for the mounts, I had to flip the angle mount that came with the sliders the other way to get the head room I was wanting. I fabbed up my own mount for them using 1/4" flat stock and a piece of 1" square tubing. If a person had an extra cab, you could probably angle them back a little more than I did because I was a little tight for room. I think they will work out great though. Here's a couple of pics of the mounts. By the way, these are Daily Driver seats witch give you just a bit more room in the back.

Building is only half the fun. The other half is wheeling what you've built.

Building is definitely only half the fun...building a cool dash like that for a fellow first gen. owner is even more fun!

It kinda seems like you might be interested in building a dash like this.....I'm not sure about building it for you, but I can sure help you out on what I did. First off, I used 3/4" square tubing to build the face frame. Then I used the stock dash mount (with a little modification) to mount the frame. I then used 20 guage sheet metal to make the face and top. Once everything is attached, this thing is pretty stout. Here's a few pics and a dimensional drawing of the frame. Oh, and I did add an additional brace under the radio to give it a bit more support and it made a great place to mount the CB. One more thing, I used 8-32 machine screws to attach the sheet metal to the frame. Hope this helps out...
