Webber 32/36 manual choke conversion?
« on: Jan 26, 2007, 06:02:01 PM »
I have a webber 32/36 with an electric choke.  It dosen't seem to work when I need it and then sticks when I don't need it...   I was thinking of just running a hand cable from the carb to the inside of the cab that way I could open and close it when I needed to.  Has anyone done this?  Any ideas?

I haven't done it with a weber, but I did with the stock carb.  At Napa and the like you can find a cheap conversion kit for about $15.  The hardest part is fabricating a cable stop that is solid enough to not flex to allow you to fully engage the choke, and that puts the cable in the right place.  I just bought a weber 38 and most likely will convert it to a manual as well.

I did this back when my '86 had a 38/38 Weber.  I used the universal one mentioned above and it worked really well.  IIRC, they had a car and truck version.  I used the truck one.

When I installed one on my nissan, I found out that all the throttle links couldn't be tight!  Have you tried to lubricate things?  I miss my weber!

There are usually kits on ebay for converting a weber to a manual choke, check on there.
