I want to do tube doors this summer.  And I would really like to bob my bed this summer but then I also need the bed space for working landscaping.  I think I might also put on a 4 runner roll bar.  And wheeling the 22nd sounds great.

Yota87Truck

Within the next month I plan on getting a new flywheel from marlin and also getting new valve adj screws from the dealership and this weekend I plan on installing new battery cables

I'm going to moab the 28th and 29th for the first time!! Im excited!

Oh, and friday on my way home for work I decided to take a detour and put my truck in 4wd and screw around a bit.... well i ended up going up a steep hill and my truck was kinda bouncing and my engine hopped off my engine mounts... not good.... somehow my nuts that r supposed to hold it on backed off and then my engine hopped off, so my fiance and I had to fix that this weekend at my apt, we used a clearance bar and a come-a-long to hold my engine up while i put the new mounts on....  It was a blast.... 30* and snowing... tons of fun, let me tell ya.  And then after that I did my taxes, and that is about all I did all day.... and it was a long day

I have started painting my truck, its going to be gray with black accents, I was going to take some pics of my progress but my camera is dead, oh and the reason for painting it was cause my paint started to peal and i realised the previous owner painted it so i wanted to be able to sand it down and make sure there was not any rust damage, so far all i have found is mild rust, so thats good, oh and i found out that my frame is bent just below the driver floor board, not good, still haven't decided what im going to do regarding that. I will try and get some pics up later today

So I have been up to alot of work on my truck, I have started painting it gray and black and I got 2 new tires on it. But it just seems like the more I work on it the more it starts to fall apart and reveal previous probblems, I found that my frame is bent and now I think my bearings are going out and my new engine is only a year old, it just seems to be sucking up more money than I have.  I am afraid to even take it wheeling now, I have to keep my truck going long enough til the end of summer when I plan on getting a taco.  And until then I dont want to be putting money into it.

Yota87Truck

Well it ended up not being my bearings but my timing chain tensioner failed and therefore loose chian... tapping sound (which made me thing bearings).  Well I fixed that but I got frustrated in the end and just used rtv on the timing cover and I cut off the head gasket and oil pan gasket, and well as you can expect it is leaking a qt. of oil about every 30 miles.  so im gonna try and jb weld it and if that doesn't work I will either have to keep addin oil or put in a new head and oil pan gasket.  today I tried to put on new brakes and the brakes i ordered from marlin 6 months ago don't fit so i am bummed about that.  i did score an altimeter at my local pick a part and im excited about that.

Have you got any new pics of the rest of the paint job?
I just saw that you are from Provo, UT. I am from there as well. We should go wheelin sometime. Have you ever been on that Mineral Basin Trail that goes from A.F. canyon over the mountain to the back side of Snowbird resort?? We are thinking of hitting that sometime soon. Just need the snow to clear.

And the snow should be gone, i went up the very beginning of that trail the end of june and there was only patches of snow on the shady spots on the norh side of the mountain.  And that sounds like fun but I only have 31's and I have tried to take my truck up there but the rocks are just to big in one spot and i couldn't get around them.  I would also like to try to take my truck up mary ellen gultch.  its the valley just south of minneral basin.  tell me when your going and maybe we will have to meet up or something.

That's looking good man, I haven't heard of Mary Ellen Gulch, however my friends and I are about due for a shake down run. My buddy just stretched his 71 box bronco to a 100" WB, and I should have my Pivot Blocks on in the next couple of weeks. We'll make a run after that!

PS I don't envy you when you have to sand those stripes off your door, It looks like that's going to take awhile.

Yeah, my wife hates all the colors.  I really need to finish it.  And yeah I really like how the fox turned out.  I want to try and do the same thing on the other front fender but in letters "FOX".  and someday I want to rhino line the black section and when I do that I will have to get rid of the fox.  But that will  be a long ways down the road.

Yeah I started doing it by hand... that didn't last long, even with a palm sander it takes forever.  I have also taken some off by razor blade which words fairly well...

Ya painting is a time consuming proscess. I have never been on that Mineral Basin trail, Do you know how long it is? I've heard that it is a really cool trail to do in the summer cause it's so high up that the weather isn't too hot.

Yota87Truck

Its about 4-5 miles long... that is the trail alone.  there is a dirt road to get to the so called trail head(more of a continuation of the trail) that is about 10-15 miles long.

Sweet i'm excited to go.

more updates from tonight... only got TOY finished, it got too dark and it took forever to mask up.  I think it turned out good though:

NorCalToy

your making stencils with tape or using an actual stencil?

Well first I took newspaper and traced the fox sticker on my back window and then I cut it out and taped it on with doubble sidded tape and I Painted it... It looked good but you could see where the doubble sided tape was and there was overspray where the emblem should be.  So then with my wifes help we taped up a solid masking tape over the top of it and traced it then pulled it off... repainted and re masked with the new stencil...  hope that makes since.

As for the Toyota on the tailgate i have been masking that. and the trd was a sticker.

Yota87Truck

On my last 4 wheeling trip my starter broke.  I thought a bolt snuck out but really the starter broke right before the bolt.  So I went into checker to see what they would do to help me out.  I told them about all the problems I have had with previous parts: water pump main shaft failure, timing chain tensioner, all only a year old.  The guy just made the problem worse by telling me it was from wheeling and that cause the core was cracked i wouldn't get the money for the core either.  So I am never going to checker again.  I have just had way too many problems.

SLIVER

Ya I would go to like Napa or Car quest. They seem to always know their shiat, or if they don't they at least will get off their arses and look it up.

Bro. I hear you when you say the truck keeps falling apart. The timing chain tensioner... been there. I thought i needed to gap the valve lash properly, but no. Ive been through 2 engines, 1 tranny, 1 transfer case, a whole new brake system, fuel pump, all kinds of wiring, birdfield joint, 2 sets of front springs (not including stock) a full set of shocks, a new oil pan, Im going through the whole intake system right now, god what else....? But I love my money pit

yeah i love my truck too.  I finally saved up the money to get my timing chain fixed and sent it to a shop that is taking forever to fix it.  they told me it would only take a week and it has almost been two and they keep blowing me off and every time i call they tell me that they have other vehicles that are more pressing.  thanks... just cause its an old piecer doesn't mean its not worth the money I will pay them to fix it.  I have been itching to go wheeling for a long time and I just want it back.

SteveB

im going to be putting some 4" trail gear springs on my truck pretty soon. i couldnt afford the mc one :( but it should be ok. im also waiting for the extra $150 for new shocks, so ill have new suspension, but no shocks lol. next big project is the engine. i want to get at least 150hp out of it, but im not exactly sure how im going to go about it
