Well up here (chico area) isnt supposed to get snow/rain tilll the end of Feb so... if we go up here on the 10th itd be crap.

What should we do?

have you been to shasta dam ? ive heard there is really good wheeling up there also ?

i say the con, u guys haven't been there in the winter yet, however, go prepared and make sure u have a few rigs with winches.

Im fairly new to this forum, and I dont know how many of you have been up (or down) this way. This has been my stomp,n grounds for the past 25+ years, and it never gets old. It is a must see any time of year.

i guess i am a little bias now thinking about it. im with pat but for different reasons. id rather hit the highlakes for cost issues. im really trying hard to get my duals in and my truck really ready for JV. i guess i would probably prefer highalkes but whereever this poll leades i guess im goin.

Im with Pat..I've never been to the highlakes and i got some friends in Chico that have'nt seen in a while and would like to visit.One of my buddy's just had his first child..What ever the date is I'll be there with a cooler full of adult beverage's..Where is the f**kin snow already..

you know jake lowen to right? hes best friends with cody and old school kevin. jake just had his first kid to.  ya im usually up at the high lakes every other weekend during snow season, day runs, night runs whatever. never camped but still. this is getting pretty ridiculous.

If you guys are camping, at least its warmed up a bit.  It was 5 degrees just above Sterling when we loaded back on the trailer at 4:30 am two weeks ago.   I haven't been past the Lott Lake T yet this season, so I can't confirm the condition of the trails past that.

I read that Fordyce from Cisco is a sheet of ice.  If WH5 is in decent condition there shouldn't be enough snow to keep from reaching Meadow lake and running the trail backwards?

Well so far its 5 votes highlakes and 3 votes rubicon....

If highlakes has more votes then Ill change the poll so its between the two dates.

Personally i think it should be march 3rd only because it *should* have more snow by then.

Hey Pat, James may be coming home at the end of February or the beginning of March for a couple weeks.  hopefully we can have it around that time so he could bring his truck wherever we go.  it is not set yet, but that is what his dad told me today.  I honestly don't care where we go.  the highlakes would be cool since i have never been there.  i have done the rubicon and fordyce thing quite a few times now but it is always fun.

We could but honestly I do not have any fun at all going up an icy, rutted road to get even near the spot.

ya i agree. it gets pretty muddy. id rather go when its dry/rocks or all snow. i dont care. if everyones coming up from down there ill go whenever! it will be nice to wheel with everyone coming up whatever the conditions are.
