Has anyone thrown a new 3rd member with the electric TRD locker in an older Toyota...??

Im looking at doing this to my 85' pickup...are they better than detroits because they are full lockers arent they??

WHITE_TRASH

Ill have to do some searching but I think that has been done.  Yes the trd is better than a detroit because it is either on or off.  No locking unlocking clanking & banging going on while ya drove
Ill go to pirates and take a look.

Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

will it bolt straight on to an 8" ??
cause they sell a 3rd member trd for $350 without gears

No the whole 3rd is diff.  You would need the everything to make it work.

Yes it can be done.  With a 3.0 v6 leaf sprung rear end.  You'll have to pm me and I'll find the links for you.  They have pics andvery clear insrtuctions.  The TRD locker is the bomb.  you can also do a mod so it can be locked in 2x4 and 4x4hi.

It has a link to another page to!  I was going to do this looks easy but now I am selling my 89 4runner, and getting 2004 taco, w/ TRD!!

I have an E-locker front and back of my 85.  They are the best, act as open diff. when not engaged and you get the benifit of a full spool when you need it.  Use this site to help you modify you axles.  http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/tech/electric_locker/
