CORVA TRUCKHAVEN EVENT: CANCELED

CANCELED CORVA Truckhaven Extreme Challenge Poker Run

The CORVA event at Truckhaven has been canceled for this weekend. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this last minute announcement may cause.

Due to a legal challenge by the Center for Biological Diversity and the Desert Protective Council, our attorney has advised us that it is in our best interest to cancel the event and withdraw the request for a Special Event Permit from California State Parks. Although this may feel like a loss, remember, we are in this for the long run. We need to work in conjunction with State Parks so Truckhaven will remain open and available for OHV use in the future.

The area is still open for use, The event just won't be happening. I've been asked to apologize on behalf of CORVA for any inconvenience.

Concern over TDS was brought up on a list.

Presumably the TDS club is paying attention & will have their ducks in a row. I'm not familiar with exactly where the CORVA event was to be held, but it sounded like maybe it was not in a 'normal' spot.

In any case, this frivilous lawsuit by one of the leading EnviroSocialist groups (thanks Don!) does not affect your right to go there & camp. It only affects CORVA's attempt at staging an event.

Reading btwn the lines I think CBD is actively pursuing shutting down as many of CORVA's revenue generating events as they can. This directly affects CORVA's ability to oppose the Center for Do It Our Way.
Funny how they never attack a desert clean-up effort!
