1984 tbird AOD tranny adapter for 1989 toyota tcase?
« on: Jan 14, 2007, 03:15:12 PM »
I have a 1984 5.0 tbird motor. I was wondering if there is an adapter from the aod tranny on it, to adapt to my 1989 4 cyl toyota tcase.

I doubt it. You could adapt from the 5.0 to the yota trans. If there is an adapter Advance Adapters or Northwest Off-road would be the ones to have it.

well, I don't really want to use the toyota tranny. From what I've read it will hold up to the v8, but not to people who want to be rough, and most likely i'll get on the throttle sometimes. So i don't trust it. Plus I wanted an automatic tranny so i could put a b&m shifter on it, and so i don't have to push the clutch in every two seconds when climbing something.

Try those 2 companies, they make a lot of adapters so one of them "might" have what you want. But if you're going to be romping on it that hard the yota t-case probably won't hold up either, especially the 21 spline that you've got. You would probably be better off using a divorced t-case, then you wouldn't have to have any adapters.

A divorced tcase as in separated from the tranny? I would be all for that as long as it comes out on the passenger side. How does that connect up to the tranny? I'm still learnin about this stuff obviously. I appreciate your help very much, thanks!
