Ok, Sorry no pictures so just close your eyes and imagine with me ok... or dont since that will make it hard to read.  Showing pictures of my 4runner to a guy here at work, one of the service hands.  Well then he gets all excited to tell me about his truck he is building! a (everything in red is his words as i recall them) 1937 Chevrolet Apache! those were so rare with 4x4 from the factory, I probably have the only one in the state At this point I think I had my skeptical face on, but I think an old pre WWII 4x4 would be pretty cool.  then he showed me the pictures.

this is just something I found on the net but it is pretty representative of his truck.

Just picture it like 2 feet higher with some 40"TSLs. the truck has all the emblems shaved, a forward tilt hood, hydraulic dumping bed, and soon to have suicide doors with electric poppers.  Same aged rusted look, he is plans are painting it "hot rod black, with Gravedigger green flames with 1966 huger orange, with a huger orange interior. i already have the racing seats with the 6 point harnesses for it. It will never see mud though, its going to be my show truck"

And for those of you who have never seen a 37 Chevrolet, take a gander at the second pic.

his truck is a 1957(single headlights, no eggcrate grill), the picture I found is a 59 with an optional napco 4x4 conversion on it, until 1960 chevrolet did not "build" a 4x4, I am figuring his was just on a newer frame. Oh by the way the truck has a 454 big block with a holley 650 double pumper making 790hp. "it will flat out scream"

Wish i could have got pictures for yall but they were on his laptop and it was password protected :D  His OTHER mud truck is a 82 or so chevy stepside on 38"TSLs and the stock 10 bolt rear. told a story about how his other truck, his mud truck, was so awesome (this one only made 500 horsepower) that he blew up his rear end in a Sonic parkinglot.  Just too much engine for the truck to handle.

At one point I thought about getting a whole running 2wd pickup with fuel injection to swap the engine into my 84 4runner.  Wanted to swap on the pickup bed and build a flat bed, then swap the carbed engine and 4runner body onto the 2wd frame and slam it, just because as far as I know there were no 2wd g1 4runners.

Not the whole thing, There are a lot of things are do belong in here but there is also a LOT of things that shouldn't be in here...

I'm not against this thread at all, I actually like it when people post up legitimate "Disgrace To Off Road" pictures.

bump, they just need to delete this thread...

lets face it... we the people of Marlin Crawler online forums Either

A: dont actually wheel and/or only web-wheel

or (more likely)

B: have more respect for ourselves and our vehicles to waste our time to repetitively be in areas that you would see a "disgrace"

LOL

whatever all that means...   really i have seen alot of street driven trucks around that are either huge, ugly, and or just plain dangerous.... but would any of them make it anywhere close to as far as my "pos" 4runner ..... prob not....

I say the biggest disgrace is any of our rigs, sitting in the driveway idle.... like mine lol....

No first gen 4runners were 2wd. It's a disgrace to 4x4 since they took a solid axle 85 runner, swapped to 2wd, slammed it and put huge wheels on it.

Ive stopped my self from putting my rig in here as a joke. Its a disgrace to me when it sits idle as well.

No first gen 4runners were 2wd. It's a disgrace to 4x4 since they took a solid axle 85 runner, swapped to 2wd, slammed it and put huge wheels on it.

for that fact they might have found a dieing 85 runner in a field with a rusted to poop chassis and all they had to put it on was a 92 2wd frame. Save a classic? :dunno:  (jus play devils advo)

I always wondered what a lowered 1st gen 4runner would look like and I'm not impressed.  It would look a lot better body dropped to the rockers and on bags.  It's just a shame they did it to an '85!

I wasn't fast enough to get a picture yesterday, but driving around Pasadena, CA(in case you see it as well) is a lifted, 4x4 gray VW type III.   Of course it was being driving by some teenager who looked pleased as could be at his DIY project.

http://www.pparker.org/images/cars/VW_Squareback_1968.jpg  Like that but with the chrome bits removed and the fenders cut like on a Baja Bug.  I so wanted a picture of the atrocity.
