I liked the Course thing but last year thought it should be an overnighter. Logistically, A run to Buck could leave people out on trail when the BBQ/raffle is going on. I like all the ideas. It is a good thing there is a year to plan the next one. Also the BBQ should be done in the bowl if we are keeping in the August timeframe.

cruise to buck friday night and get up sat morning to go back to the bowl, no problemo..

That can be one run, you can run the one that goes from the bowl to ellis  :moon:  (j/k)

Better yet, start the trail runs after the raffle maybe so people have to lug the cool prizes along, nah that wouldn't be too good cause we need to know the broken person for the award. Maybe move it to sunday with runs friday night and saturday?

We (Marlin and I) have already planned to have like a $20 registration, includes TShirt, BBQ Ticket, Dash Plack, Couple raffle tickets, and some stickers. This will cover the BBQ costs, allow us to plan for food, and everything else.
Registration should start maybe 4 or 5 months in advance so people can plan their schedules accordingly. :circle:

QuoteLogistically, A run to Buck could leave people out on trail when the BBQ/raffle is going on.

After the raffle and group pic we set up camp at Ellis and did a night run to the box....and back. Just do the night run after the days events and nobody misses out on the BBQ or the raffle. Business first, fun last    as far as the award for worst carnage, doesn't that apply to the courses only ?  The comp is done before the raffle so it shouldn't be a prob. Just think of the night run as a fun run and not a comp......

Sorry to all you dialup guys.  Here is what I wound up taking.  It looks to be a GREAT place.  We have to do some work to find out if we can secure it for MCR 3, but so far it looks like a winner.  More info to come after this.

One thought on the timeline was to have it over Father's day weekend.  One reason is to not have to worry about fires up there.  It will of course all depend on the weather and conflicting events.

We were thinking the weekend before Rubithon. Weather permitting. It should work out good. Warm but not hot, not dry and the trail is always good before the first paid runs go through

parea looks like it could be wicked fun-nice pics.  I ran  the rubi. twice last year, once the fri. of Fathers Day weekend- VERY busy and xtra dusty, once in the middle of May-first all the way thru for the year- great fun and no dust/crowds.  Point being, great to get out there before the droves--- cant wait to be a part of it. ;D

Wait Brandon, Marlin wanted to plan MCR3 much much earlier, like in May or June (or whenever snow melts, etc.)

Scott, have you talked to Marlin about this?

Please be careful with planning MC03 near Rubithon.

for instance, many folks and TLCA members want to attend both (me for instance).  If you schedule the event on the weekend prior to Rubithon, you may impact folks ability to attend both and possibly force some into choosing.  That would be bad for both events.

The planning should not be any earlier than Fathers Day. Too close to call for snowmelt. July is out. August usually has fire restrictions. September, kids are back in school. What do ya do. Marlin wants it on the Rubicon to be centrally located in California.

I thought the time frame was great this last year. It gave Lemooran, Blutoylet and I a chance to do a backwards run in on Friday, camp at Spider, then run back through with a camp at Buck Saturday night.

Plus August was good time wise cause it gave me enough time between Drew's Bash and MCR2 to fix stuff and do honey do's.
