Hello from Australia
« on: Feb 12, 2004, 01:54:20 AM »
Just thought i would say hello from Down Under
Been around the site a while but only registered a short time ago.

I drive a bit of a mongrel breed Hilux.
It started life as a '93 solid axle dual cab with 22R carbed and style side bed.
The cab ended its life in a big roll at a rock crawling comp a little over a year ago.

Pic below was not long after i bought it.

Thats a nice ride. That thing was a 93 stock with solid axle?  Do the still come with solid axles down there?  And what does a new diesel hilux go for?

Yes we still had the Solid Axle up till late '96. They are all IFS now.

The current hilux prices start at $29-990aus and go up to about $50-000 depending on options. They come in 2.7ltr petrol,3.4ltr quad cam V6,3ltr EFI Diesel and the 3ltr Turbo Diesel.

Hove a heap more pics of my rig and a heap of others wheelin on a weekend we had a month or so back here- http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/gallery/

Yes the 3.4 has Dual overhead cams. Its called a 5VZ-FE its also 4 valve per cylinder. Has 124kw at 4600rpm and 291nm of torque at 3600rpm. Backed up by an R150F and A chain drive case.

Not sure what the conversion is on 29,000 but its prob only a couple of hundred US with the way the Aus dollar goes up and down :maddest:

Yes the 96 model still had the axle with the brace that runs right out to the knuckle.
