hello all

i now have another 83. this one is a short bed. but my question is do any of you have the wiring diagram to run fuel injection? i have the complete system from an 87 4-runner. any help you can give would be great. also i am looking at a cam of some sort. what do you all sugest and where can i get it. also what about headers. thanks in advance

I don't have a wiring diagram for EFI in an 83 but I just swapped EFI into my 84 4Runner.  Thread is here http://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=14334.0

You're going to need the EFI wiring harness, fuel tank, fuel line, computer, 22RE motor.  I'd probably just swap the EFI harness in and figure it out.  I've never done a first gen truck though.

Cam wise, I went with the EB 268 cam.  I've been happy so far but I've never owned a 22RE (just 22R's) so I don't know what a stock 22RE feels like.  My motor seems to pull down the highway decent on stock gears and 31 inch tires.

My friend runs a Doug Thorely header.  He likes it.  I am probably going to buy one later.

why do i need the fuel tank and line? i have the full harness and injection set up. and i still ned the wiring diagram. i would like to get it because the harness i got has a/c and other options i dont care for and i dont like to leave unused wires hanging out in my engine compartment. thenk you for the info given

The EFI fuel pump is an electrical unit rather than the carb which is gear driven from the cam.  Plus, the fuel line is larger in diameter to flow more fuel.

Not all the carb trucks came with mechanical fuel pump. Seems like some of the first gens have electric, some have mechanical... Not that it really matters because a carb fuel pump isn't going to help you in an efi setup...

i have an inline fuel pump. if i change the line will it work? just trying to get this done without to much hassle.

the efi pump puts out 70 psi and 60 gallons an hour if using a generic inline pump for a carb system it will not work

can i get an inline race pump that is externally regulated? i am trying to stay away from having to buy a new tank clean it out and aniodize the inside AGAIN

the guy that i bought my efi setup from said that he used the external pump from a 7m style engine when he switched his over.  i never really looked into it yet though.

so in a normal efi setup there is a supply and return line do i need that also in this setup or can i just run the 1 line with an inline fuel pump? i plan on starting on this right after christmas. thank you all for the help. marry christmas all

it looks like from what i read you can use your return line and just run a new one for the pump side.  i believe that the feed line is different because it is a high pressure line designed to flow more fuel.  if you have a pick n pull around u just go pull the lines off of a inj. truck.  if you search on pirate there is a few thread about it.
