i'll post a short write up soon.

before i get started though i wanted to share with everyone that i found the two tools that you will need to remove the shims for a way better price then toyota.

first of all i checked my valve clearance and found that i had four tight valves.  i looked at the pictures of the two tools and tried to make them myself.  3 hours later i had one of the shims out.  problem was it only worked for that valve.  it hit the intake when i tried to use it on the other side.

i was losing daylight and i have tons of other stuff to be doing.  so time is money right?  i decided to call it quits and start searching for the factory tools.

well well.  the santa cruz dealer said they can't get them and gave me the number to OTC (east coast) i called redwood city toyota on monday morning, (today) and they said they couldn't get them until mid-june and they are 117 bucks.  i said so what am i supposed to do until then.  the guy said, "you can bring it to our quality service here."
me, "no thanks bye."

i called OTC then and they said they can ship me one in march for 120 bucks. :yipes:

well i turned to the internet.  and i found it.  located in sac.  for 32 bucks my tools will be her by wed.  i'll let you know how they worked after i use them.

it was easy to do but i never to any pictures and just got lazy with posting about it.

i kept thinking that when i got the time i would come back to it.

three were out of spec and one was at the bottome of the spec.  the aftermarket tol made the job a sinch.

the replacment pucks cost me 12 bucks each at the dealership.  i put them in and rechecked them and reassembled the parts.  way easy job.
i'll try and remember to get pictures next time i do it.
