Topic: Trying to decide on tires

I'm looking to run either the Bias Ply 36 x 13.5 x 15 Iroks or the 38 x 12.5 x 15 TSL/SX's on a 15x10 2.5 inch backspaced wheel on an 84 Runner.  The majority of my wheeling is in CO with some trips to Moab planned.  This isn't my daily driver but it isn't trailered either.

My brother runs the Iroks on his Jeep.  He loves them but they just plain wear out quick.  I think they would be a great tire on the Toyota since they are lightweight but still tough and they stick good to the rocks.

Questions about the 38x12.5 TSL/SX's.  Anybody have any weights on them?  Anybody run them?  Do you think I would get more mileage on the tire as compared to the Iroks?  Would the 12.5 seat OK on a 10 inch wide wheel and not have bead popping problems at low pressure?  I know the 8 inch wide wheels would work better but I've already bought the wheels and they are sitting in my garage.

Thanks for the 100 questions, I just want to make sure before I pay out $1200 on tires.

12" tires on a 10" rim has been working for years now. It is a good combo. I highly recommend it. The problem with the narrower rim is the sidewall rollover on highway use. Makes it feel squirlley.

I guess the regular TSL's are also an option.  How do the TSL's compare to the TSL/SX?  The SX is a tougher tire with some sidewall tread.

I run 13.50 IROKS on an 8" rim with no problems.  The rig is primarily trail only.

I don't think the IROKS wear good at all. But then again I don't know how good a TSL is gonna wear. I would bet you would get more miles out of a TSL.

Acually, I think that TSL's don't last as long as IROKS.  No SS is going to wear good.

I had a set of 36/12.50D15, I got about 20K out of them. For 5 months strate I drove them on the freeway to work and back. There a awesome tire on and off road. Personally I stay with the TSL's
