If I remember right any trans from 79-83 4x4 will bolt right in.  Heck sometime this month Ill be taking the 4 speed out and putting a w56 in its place.  Your welcome to it.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

If you didn't make it, and it ain't broke, you didn't try hard enough.

Because your 79-80' L43 is a side shifting trans that has a adjustable clutch fork push rod, there is no other trans that is a direct bolt in.
Your trans is 21 1/2" long so a 81-83' L45, L50, OR L52 trans would also fit, but there is a lot of changes that would have to be done.
1980 Toyota - 1997 3RZ-FE 2.7l Engine, Turbo R151F 4.31:1, Triple Turbo Marlin Crawler Billet (2.28x4.70x4.70) = 1,148:1 Crawl Ratio, Marlin Crawler Twin Stick and Short Throw Shift Kits, 30mm H/D Output Shaft, High Angle Drive Lines, 5.29:1, ARBs, High Pinion Front, 25mm HD Billet High Steer Kit, 6 Pin Locking Hub Bodies, 86+ Wide Rear End, V6 3rd member, Chromolly Axles all around, 37" IROKs with Beadlocks, York onboard air - Rollbar air tank, Premier Power Welder, Marlin Crawler 4" USA-made Leaf Springs, Bilstein Shocks, et cetera....

275 is all i want for it because thats what it cost for parts for rebuild and was rebuilt by certified toyota mechanic, so u know its good. can post pics if u need them.

I would suppose you would need the clutch slave, pressure line, tranny and shifter.  All that can be found easily enough, I hit the wrecking yard today and paid a visit to the yota's more than enough to get you on the road REAL cheap if ya got the time.

i talked to a friend with a 1980 yota he had a rebuilt one out of his truck that im getting for $150 tomarrow

yotaboy79

what i did was i blew up the bearing on the imput shaft
and prolly messed up every thing else inside the tranny. the input shaft has 1/4 in of play, the clutch and everything else is fine
