« on: Nov 20, 2006, 10:47:33 PM »
finished my build 2 weeks ago... put on about 700 miles with no probs... went to take it out for the first weelin break-in and half way to cow mtn i start to hear this high pitch noise.... pull over check it out... not leaking ect... so i continue on figuring it was just a bearing going bad and figured what the hell.... wheeled for an hour or so then started back home... about a half hour from my house my truck starts shaking so i pulled over... then tried to move it but i wouldnt move.. thought it was my rear end but it was the tranny..... all gears didnt work except 4th so i limped off the highway and left it there over night.. well got it home today and pulled the t case... drained all the fluid.. then went to the tranny to drain the fluid... hardly anything came out... not even a half quart... turned the tranny upside down and nothing at all came out???? i figured for some reason i forgot to put fluid in it would have failed 700 miles ago... its a w56.. runnin 35's 5.29 ect... i dont get it????? how was it bone dry?? by the way the main bearing at the input is melted and so is probably everything else inside.... and no my truck does not leak a drop anywere.... help me!!!!??????

That sucks!! Attention to detail! I think my tranny has pumped all of it's fluid into the transfer case, too!!  :shake_head:  It's been sounding really strange ( I don't really drive it much, only to the parts house).  I replaced my seal when I added the duals back in july.  :headscratch:  I think I might have torn it. I am going to check all of my fluids and see.  :crossed:  I was told you put on the front case, then adapter, then the rear case when you install this.  :dunno:
`87 runner....it was stock....now sas'd, 37's, duals, geared/ locked, 10in bob, half doors, rock lights. etc., etc.,.........coming soon a 3.4 swap!!!
