Before I get my dash back together in my 84 4Runner, I would like to take the dash pad and restore it.  It's cracked up like 99% of them.  What can I use to fill the cracks?  Can I paint it and if so, with what kind of paint?  I was kinda of thinking about hurculining it with some extra bedliner I've got.  Any ideas would be great  :beerchug:

http://www.justdashes.com/FadeAway.htm  My buddy used this to redo his but it was paint/dye only I think he got a cheapo epoxy kit from JC Whitney to fix the cracks.  For the speaker grille he just epoxied over the whole grille then when it was hard he drilled out new holes. It did not look that great but it worked.

Here is what I would do...cheap fix style.
pull the pad off ta truck and use a heavy grit paper to sand the whole thing down.  Then I would use epoxy or bondo or whatever to fill in large cracks.  Smooth that out then I would lay fiberglass (cloth weave) evenly as possible over the entire thing.  Smooth the glass down to the final shape you want and you will be able to prep and paint with whatever type of stuff you want.
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

Mine fit just like stock, I was pretty impressed. It smelled a little odd, like some kind of glue, for like a week.

Just a warning about those dash pads, I ordered one for my 80 lats week, and it was a plastic cover you glue on. The one I got before for another truck was an actual replacement pad. So I guess read the ad real carefully. I'm pretty dissapointed with what I just got.
