http://www.gizmodo.com/gadgets/clips/lexus-self-parking-car-video-and-review-196551.php this just seems wierd to me. I mean what if the sensors fail and u hit another vehicle or worse a little kid or something. Can u use it in driving school? Now no one is gonna know how to parallel park!  :hahaha:

Give me a break!!

If you can't park it you shouldn't be able to drive it, I've seen so many soccer mom's driving big ol' SUV's that should never be in one. It should be just like getting a motorcycle license, if you bring a 250cc you are gonna be riding a 250cc not a 1200cc.

People can't parallel park as it is...this feature will really come into it's own when it is available on F350 dualies! I think it's slicker 'n owl :pokinit: on a hickory limb!

It does not take any control away from the driver as it a selectable option.

yes but u select a button to give the car control of a 2000 lb piece of steel. I'm sure it over rides it when u touch the wheel but it still gives control to the car.

If you want it to park the car, then you can have it do it. If you want to park the car on your own, then simply do not press anything and just park it.

I think it is an EXCELLENT advance in Automotive technology and I am in full support of it.

This isn't new technology, but it can also cruise by itself by automatically adjusting the speed in relation to traffic in front of the car. Pretty sweet.

I do like things like that, hate having to adjust the cruise control all the time.

Who parallel parks anymore?  They are changing all our parallel parking spots into diagonal parking here in town.  Isn't everything all strip malls and parking garages?

You guys are crazy! You mean if you had a car that would parallel park itself you wouldn't use it? I would love to not have to park my f-350. If I could say "hey guys check this out" and push a button and have my car park itself better than I could that would be sweet! But since I will never have the luxury of owning such a fine vehicle it sucks and is stupid  :hahaha:
If you still have control you aren't going fast enough

You still have to hit the gas and brakes.  The car only steers.

GAS AND BREAKS!?!?!?!  What a peice of :pokinit:! For that kind of money, it should park it's self, wash it's self, all while giving me a **** ***.
You have a Jeep?  That's cute.... So does Barbi.

Well, I think the european ones will do it all for you.  They've had self parking cars for a while now.

Maybe the amsterdam ones will give you a "haircut" too?

I think it's cool having something like this....my truck is less likely to get dinged up by some idiot who can't parallel park. Also, the first car that has the cruise control based on the vehicle in front of them I have heard about was tha XLR Roadster from Cadillac, sweet fawkin cars! I would love to have that because I hate adjusting my cruise control constantly because other people don't like to use theirs.

DTB

ok. has anyone heard about the new Onstar system? It performs hundreds of diagnostics checks on your vehicle per month and SENDS YOU AN EMAIL to let u know how it is doing. I wish my truck would send me an email.

Call me old fashioned, but I still like to lock in my own hubs, and have a real lever to pull to engage 4wd. While technology is a wonderful thing, I'm more than a bit concerned about the consequences of people who become too reliant on technology. No matter how well we build things, there are times when they don't work, and we have to revert to the "old fashioned" way of doing things.

How many times have you tried to go to a store, and they've said "we're closed because the computers are down" or tried to call a credit card company or bank just to be frustrated by their inability to help you because the technology they rely on is unreliable.

I don't ever want to be "stuck" because some new-fangled technology has made me brain dead, and unable to do things for myself.

OK, I'm done ranting. I still think the whizz-bang coolness of it is increadible, but i still stand behind my thoughts above.

I have no idea how to say it right, but I've long said that the demise of man will come from us over-technologizing ourselves.  You can figure out what I mean I'm sure, but if not.......
