22r cam on ebay
« on: Oct 18, 2006, 09:48:26 AM »
was looking for a hotter cam on ebay and saw this. Has anyone dealt with this guy before and is the cam shaft any good. would a trd or a LCE cam be worth the extra money?

About to get my engine rebuilt and the guy doing it has said he will install anything I want at no extra charge while he is rebuilding it so now seems like the time to liven this engine up some. :gap:

Engnblder is great.  Go to his website and buy it direct.  I have done research and and the 261 C I think is the way to go.  That is what I am getting ready to order for mine.  If you go to Pirate, they have a write up on cams in the FAQ but I am not sure how accurate it is.

Thanks for the reply Hotrod81.

I am not sure if I am getting a good deal on the rebuild but this is the only one who will give me a warranty with anything but all stock parts.

2800 with him removing, rebuilding, and reinstalling the engine.

Is there anything else that I can have done at the same time to increase performance without loosing reliability?

in my opinion  the enginebuilder cams  are very mild,  better than stock  but  not very hot at all

i run the LCEngineering stage 2 race cam  and love it,  a little lopey   but  sweet

The Stage II cam is hotter I am sure, but for rock crawling I don't think that is what you'll want.

I put an Engnblder cam in DTB's motor when I built it.. I was curious about the quality of the cam etc. and for the money it couldn't be beat.  his cams are regrinds and the machine work was not the best, but acceptable.

I run it in mine and it works fine. I like the high end power better anyway because i drive mine to the trail so I use the high end alot.

Wow!! $2800 seems like alot. I do performance rebuilds (bored 30 over, 261c cam, ported and polished for $1300.), but i don't know what kinda warranty he's offering, and you're in Weezy-Anna and i'm in Pekin, Illinois. 309-202-1682

sorry on the lag between posts.
He is offering 3 years and 36k on it, pulling the engine and reinstalling it for 2,800.

I don't doubt that I could pull the engine my self but he is saying that if I pull it and install it my self I get no warranty because i could mess up with the install and he is not going to fix something I mess up.

The only place down here that said i could pull it and they would rebuild it and still give me a warranty still wanted 1600 dollars for a straight rebuild no performance parts what so ever, and if I install a cam then no warranty.

I would still search around.  $2,800 still seems like a lot.

Trust me I am, i don't want to pay double what I paid for the truck to rebuild the 22r...
I am starting to think I wouldn't mind paying double the price of the truck for a v-6 or a v-8 and installing it my self though. :yesnod:

I've got a 3VZE 3.0 V6 for sale right now, with the V6 4x4 tranny, for $700.00, pulled from a running, although  somewhat squashed 95 Taco.

Hadn't really considered the 3.0 before, going to do a little reading on it and get back to you Oddmar.

Do you know how much shipping to 70542 would be?
