at 150 bucks i think this thing was a steal. odo is stopped at 75k though. it had been sitting for 6 years until i bought it. pretty new tires, heat works, power steering, i suspect the a/c compressor is locked up, needs a little exhaust work. other than those minor things the body is pretty damn straight and there isnt really any rot just some rust where the wheel tubs meet the bedsides and on the bedfloor.

after i got the tranny out and unbolted the pressure plate i found the clutch disk to be only half of its original self and the flywheel has some bad scorching and heat cracks. i guess i shouldnt have taken it out onto the beach (6 times.....) lol

on to the pics:

and i have to take this opportunity to post my other baby :D

its a big work in progress. getting stock floored to the rockers and building the 4.3 for 300 horse N/A and a 100 shot. yes its definately the opposite of this forum's choice of height. but whatever, i like it. i usually cruise around s10forum.com

basically the plans are to make it a reliable daily with some performance minded modifications to improve the power and fuel economy and also to give it a slightly lower stance. since options are limited for lowering the front, i was actually thinking of doing away with the torsion bar setup and bagging the front but not run any air management (compressors, valves, etc) and just set the pressure (ride height) externally via schraeder valves like an air shock.

a small stereo will be a necessity so i dont go insane either. some mtx 6.5" speakers in the doors, a pair of 8" RE subwoofers behind the seats in a custom ported box(1cubic foot common chamber slot ported to 32hz), alpine cda-9856 for cd and ipod capability, mtx amplifiers for the subs and speakers, all wiring from Knukonceptz.com.

new carpet and re-cover the seats. i'm hoping there isnt any rot under the vinyl floor.... if there is i will cut out the affected areas and patch them up with new sheetmetal then probably coat the inside of the cab with POR-15 or some sort of truck bed liner for durability and rustproofing.

so yeah the typical gearhead in me is not gonna let the beater be stock for long...... :dunce:

 I had a 83 S10 with a 4.3  That I built lowered back in the late 80's when I lived in Fl.  Both my roomates had raised Jeeps and thats how I got into 4x4's.  I still like the lowriders though.  Just do not see to many in the mountains of Va.
