I just bought a 84 toy and was putting on a weber when the mounting stud broke off in the intake manifold. :rivers:So my 1 hour job went south.  I pulled off the intake and tapped the hole.  How do I figure out what size helicoil to use for the stud?  But since I got all the vacum lines disonected I was wondering which ones are necessary and which ones can I get rid of. I want to toss all the emissions stuff. Any help would be sweet.

with a weber the only vacuum line you need  is the one to the distributor

throw the rest away

what about all the lines running into my intake. I know I gotta keep the fuel line and the coolant line but what about all the rest of the little vacum lines?

Plug and cap, plug and cap, plug and cap.  I have a weber on my 80 and only have 2 vaccuum lines:  vaccuum advance and brake booster.

Yeppers, you got an egr valve on that truck?  LC Engineering makes block off plates, you can ditch that junk too.

Take a look at my build and you can kinda see what vac lines you don't need. Ive only got the one to the dist and the PCV (not necessarilly a vac line) I can take more pics if you need.

that's great.  I went to autozone yesterday to buy a bosch fuel pump but when I opened the box it said carter.  I think I've heard some negative things about that one.  Anyway I just went with a redline from LC and while I was at it I convinced the wife to let me get the egr block off plates and a ceramic header.  I can't wait.  Thanks to everyone who helped me on this I greatly appreciate it.  Ken

I just put the block off plates on mine...for like $20 or whatever they are, they are REALLY nice billet parts.  New hardware and everything.  I was very impressed.
