« on: Oct 10, 2006, 12:03:07 PM »
Hey guys I just bought another  !
$500, needs a lot of love..
1991 Toyota P/U xtra cab  (other = 1990 p/u std cab)
seats = good lunch for my buddies dog
Bed trashed, rotten, = flatbed
Lights= need new(all, cracked, ugly)
minor cosmetics= paint
windshield=new (my brother in law is a glass techie)
to get it all legal and road worthy all i need is the lights and the windshield.
So i NEED seats first  just wanna know what type of bucket seats would fit nicely in there, presently it has the 60/40 split back seat, any ideas?
Thanks!
-Johnny

Think these are the seats Hotrod81 was talking about.

I had to replace the seats in my runner (84) and I ended up using some junkyard seats I picked up for about 60 a piece.
There is a fine line between clever and stupid, I just wish I knew when I crossed it.

84 4runner
02 Suzuki V-Strom
95 Honda 1100C1
06 Ram 2500 4x4
(please note, listed in order of preference)

Least painful would be seats out of another toyota pickup.  If you're gonna use seats out of a car you need to pay close attention to the floor pan.  Most cars have a higher mounting point on the tunnel side of the seat, so you hafta make your own brackets.  I've pulled seats out of cars in the yard before and took em to the truck section to see how close they were.  I'm running mid-late 80s nissan 300zx seats with minimal mods.  I had to make small brackets to bolt down the tunnel side, but the outer mounts were really close.  I like the adjustable side bolster for trails, adjustable head rest and seat bottom.  Plus there's an air bag in there too :yesnod:

well, i got a problem. 4 runners Pickups, anything Toyota, doesnt last more than a week at the P&Pull, plus if you call em' they usually say somthing like "no" none of those , then you go down there just to find 2. Well, I did go yesterday, and nothing, the 2 that were there are completly stripped, down to the bent frame and cab, kinda weird seeing a skeleton like that.
Well, hopefully with a little looking around, Ill find something to my likeing, maybe even an original, like I said, I still got a ways to go before i can even slap some paint on this beast. Thanks for the advice.
Anyone know of some kind of other truck that would closely bolt in, may an S-10? Im clueless.

Supra seats fit pretty well with almost no/slight modifications.

For ease of installing the main thing for our trucks is to find a seat that's lowest point on the bottom of the seat are the seat rails.  (You don't want the seat hanging lower than the seat rails.)  It just makes it easier to make simple brackets and install.

1st set of seats were out of a sami zuk.  Flat bottomed seats.  Easy to mount.

2nd set, prelude has bubble butt, and required making drop down brackets so it didn't drag on the floor pan so I could move the seat forward and back if needed.
