???s about trannys!!

hey guys i'm new to the toyota world and got a few questions about a some parts i picked up today.                   i bought a 4 or 5 speed with marlin adapter duel cases and a marlin HD mount bolted to it!! guy said it came out of an "86"runner,my questions are how do i tell if it came from an efi rig,and if its a 4 or 5 speed?? by the way this will be going in my latest project specs,22re this tranny and cases with 4:7s in rear,front 60 4:88s ARB 35 spline shafts and warn flanges,14 bolt rear 4:88s detroit,back halfed 3 linked and exo'ed!! i'll be pickin up the P/U next week so hopfully is build will start in the next few weeks,i have all the parts but the P/U and motor,thanks for the help,dave!!

86 runner  cant be anything BUT a efi,  or turbo,  and thats rare,  so  im gonna say thats a w56,   the adapter  will have a number on it,  mine for instance is MC07 #2919

maybe i'm missin something but the only #s i see on the adapter are 2542 on the left side??

Go to marlin's site (transmissions). It has about 3 different pics of each of the different tranny's.  Look and compare. Very informative.

Yeah it is.  One of the best Tranny pages IMHO.  they did a good job breaking it down by year and how to identify them.  the t-case page is good too.
