People have expressed interest in have an area for their club here on the forum.

So this is more or less for smaller clubs who either do not have a website and/or forum already set up.

Also I think this is good for the Fresno 4WD club because it will tie local board members in with local events (since this forum is hosted in Fresno).

Hey Mike this is Jimmy Campbell. Ive been talking with marlin and Dave about restarting Toys-4-Fun. Both have given me great support. It would be great if you could set up something here for me to try and get the ball rolling.  Thanks for any help you can give.

I really want to get a "club or mini club" going here in Vermont. We have a lot of people interested and have little groups that go out wheelin together. So why not become a branch of another club or start our own??
<3 BOGGERS <3 "I don't fall for pick up lines, I fall for pick up trucks!"

You guys should do it! Clubs are the best way to get like minded people together and to meet new friends who share your similar interest. :beerchug:

Set some date and location, like every 3rd Tuesday night at Burlington Burgers , post it up Facebook or pass out fliers, then see who shows up! :_order: Do that for a few months, plan a few very simple camping trips or even plan for a McDonalds parking lot 4X4 meet on a Sunday afternoon, and WHAM, new club has begun! :driving:

I'll check with my club at the next meeting, we do already have a bulletin board and a facebook page but I see better exposure here for potential membership and participation. Since I am the current online admin I could just authorize it but we are a voting membership so I'll throw it at them.
The one thing though is uploads, on our current bb we can just about upload any file including pdf's which our monthly news letter is posted on. Here's both sites you won't see the private club sections on the bb but that's where the pdf's are kept, they have personal info so we don't publish them to the public without the redaction's of that info which is published on facebook. We don't use the bb as much as we used to but our fb page gets good activity from our members and anyone that joins us. We lost our original bb a few years ago when my nephew sold his interest in Netnevada which hosted the board, but it was rebuilt at the current location which I just did a major overhaul of with new graphics and layouts. I think I did a pretty good job. Still traffic there is low but I do get a significant amount of traffic on fb. Mostly from the trip reports and videos I've been putting on there. Still a high traffic site like here would be awesome. Might get a little work heavy for you unless you are going to let people start messing around in the admin control panel.

Keep in mind this could be a potential security risk. Mainstream forum software allows any file extensions to be configured (as I think you know) by the admin. This forum can accept files with the extension .bigmike but this filetype hasn't been implemented by the IEEE Computer Society yet.

I checked out your forum, it looks really good man  Have you tried taking fliers to all of your local 4x4 shops? Most off road businesses welcome this sort of thing as it builds the community and is good for business. Its an easy method of getting your club's name out to strangers you'd otherwise not reach. Keep the flyer simple, have a catchy image, and then have a QR barcode that links right to your forum-

Sounds like you guys have a nice group of people! Larger clubs that I've been a part of have Club By Laws (list of basic rules on what it means to become a member and how to stay a member each year). Some clubs have membership fees (like $20-$30/year), some are free/donation based, and all of them I've experienced have at least 1 annual event where they do some sort of community involved fund raiser. Shirt and hat sales are also a way to generate income. I think for a starter club, the only need of club money would be if you did like a work party - such as repair some sections of a popular trail - then the club will offer a BBQ lunch or dinner and the club $ would pay for the dinner. But its entirely up to you guys on what you plan to do with the club!

One of our local clubs helps a sort-of half-way house / foster care center by taking a bunch of underprivileged kids up wheeling for a day trip. Most of our clubs also encourage members to decorate their rigs and enter them as a sort of "Holiday Float" for an annual Christmas Parade. It's great, we'll just drop our Marlin Crawlers into double low and let the trucks idle past all the onlookers. It's a lot of fun. Another option if available in your area is that our forest service needs help maintaining campsites, so clubs adopt campsites and work with the forest service to maintain, clean-up, and report campsite vandalism.

Basically, I believe that anyone can get friends together for a wheeling trip, but when you organize a club and do these sort of community events, it lets people use their talents and their trucks for something constructive. I am a member of three clubs and Marlin is a member of I believe eight clubs. If I could sum up my experiences, being part of something larger than myself is what draws me to clubs.
