We're planning a trip to Barrett and need to know when it closes.  Our trip is supposed to be the weekend of the 6-8.

Thanks

As soon as it starts raining. Seriously, the rangers there are super anal with that trail and as soon as rain starts hitting the ground, they close the gate.

Guess I'd better hope the rain keeps away as long as possible :disturbed:

Yeah I've heard of guys that have gotten closed in on the trails. They went in and before they got out, the rangers closed the gates. Then you have to hike to the ranger's station and get them to open the gate and let you out. :rofl2:

Now that just sucks.... We're plannin on at least 5 rigs... so we're hoping Barrett's open OR no snow at the 'Con.  I'd like to camp by Sluice box before the snow comes in

freds40 is correct, as soon as any rain/snow hits the ground then its closed. They're trying to keep the trail as preserved as possible.

They don't lock people in though. The gate has been closed and opened again depending on weather. I have been in several times when the gate was closed.
