I know that some of the 4cly automatic runners came with 4.88's but i'm not 100% sure of years. There's a toy scrap yard i'd like to look through a see if i can get myself some cheap 4.88's :yesnod: and i'd like to know to look for.

just so you know, Factory 4.88s can only be replaced with FACTORY 4.88s.  I mean, if you get a set, and break a gear, you have to get gears from Toyota.  Nobody makes an aftermarket set.

Does a Toyota auto have enough power to even break a ring and pinion? I think they have a different carrier so that may limit other aftermarket options too.

IIRC, the only traction device that will fit this carrier is a Detroit. Depends on your take wether that's good or bad.

Well i'm planning on welding it up anyways so locker choice isn't a big issue right now. I'd like to run a set for a while so i can afford duals then probally 5.29's with arb's. I know they will help a bunch compared to the 4.10's i'm running right now.

ARBs fit.  See the FAQ on yotatech.
