For 79 it has torsion bars up front,upgraded/lift bars available from Downey,the rear you could probably get a 2wd lift spring from Downey as well and it should be consideably better than the worn stock spring I would go spring over and get a custom pack made from any spring shop.  OR find a 4X and swap the whole mess onto the 4X frame.

now thats what i was telling him...whats the problems that i would be facing if i were to just swap the body onto lets say a 86 4x4 pick up std cab 22ret

see  i was going another route,   SAS  with 85 front  5mge  with R151, dual cases,  and a 6x6 conversion  with all 3 diffs  e-locked   with 33-1450-15 boggers  on 15x10 wheels with 3inch bs
