so i built myself a rear bumper
« on: Aug 05, 2006, 11:23:30 PM »
so i finally got my ass in gear and started my rear bumper. i went down to the local steel shop and bought 1/4 plate, 2x3x1/4, and 2x2x1/4. the 2x3 for the main rear and the 2x2 for the frame slides and such. i used hammerite black paint. which is great b/c you apply it just to clean metal no etching or priming, which is great when you bash it up.  i havn't had a chance to test it yet, BUT im' running holy cross in two weeks and i'm sure i'll catch it at least once.
the before

the steel

frame slides

roughed out

the corner, i had to add a little bit too

i like to weld! and this bead isn't too bad considering i'm using a very marginal ac welder.

how it looks now
