Rear output on t-case wiggles...

85 T-case. The output shaft (rear) wiggles (up and down, not in and out) probably 1/30 of an inch or so...I'm just estimating but it doesn't seem right.

I'm doing duals this weekend so I figure I should replace the output seal and whatever else is wrong that makes it wiggle...I'm thinking its a bearing but I have not been into a t-case before so I don't know.  :headscratch:

Any suddestions?

those output bearings do not have a reputation for going out, in fact, I've never heard of one going out, maybe your nut is loose? stranger things have happened, just blast the new one one good and hard with the impact. I'm also gonna venture a guess and say that the seal is probably fine if it isn't leaking gear oil-so I'd still say that it's your nut.
85' 4Runner- SWAPPED--Dodge Caravan IFS-front and rear, 235R13's on each corner, hubcaps. Toyota Corona drivetrain swap. Locked, left and right side doors, with the windows up.

The output shaft has two roller bearings. 6208N front, and 63/28 rear. These two bearings have a excellence service record. Check the drain plug for debris and inspect the oil. Chances are everthing is fine. I would tighten the output nut to 95 lbs, stake the nut and call it good.

It would not hurt to check the splines on the shaft and flange for wear while it is apart. That much movement can waddle them.
