I have an '82 Longbed.  I am currently installing a 4.5" Procomp/Toyota Hybrid lift.   I have heard that on 81-83 yotas there is front shaft binding on lifted trucks.  I have heard that using an '84-85 front shaft would alleviate this problem.  The truck is not put together, but I want to have all these potential problems worked out ahead of time

You just need a cv shaft. You may or may not already have one. Just look under the truck.
You have a Jeep?  That's cute.... So does Barbi.

I have an 83 with a CV shaft and a 4" lift, no binding.
Time to go wheelin!

Yes the 84 and 85 joints have more movement. The grips are deeper to allow more distance from the joint and the shaft. Also I believe the CV's have more movement too.
