Every time I see a topic from someone asking what thier truck is worth, I think to myself "bonehead, how can you not know what your own vehicle is worth?"  but here's the deal: I know what I would want for the truck, but I've put so much money and blood into truck... well lets say my view might a bit biased.

here's the rundown:
it's an 84 runner that was gutted and redone from scratch.
the interior is 100% mint condition SR-5. new carpet, refurbed the dash, even rebuilt the clinometer.
the seats are  leather froma 318is, the center console is from a 2003 tacoma. (I gotta have cupholders and a place to store CD's) and a new CD player with remote and XM ready.

The engine is a fresh built 22rte, and it's been built to handle boost. new cometic high-boost head gasket, ARP head and rod studs, the works. has a fresh rebuilt .60 trim T-3 (huge compared to the stock CT-20) adjustable boost controller, and new 3" exhaust all the way back with a new cat and a proper flex joint. this truck is not blidingly fast, but for a 5000 lb rig, it will out run my stock 3800 lb 3.4L tacoma x-cab any day of the week. (take that you 5vze and 3rz swappers!)  you'll notice in some of the pictures I've since added a black hood and a scoop. the scoop feeds air to the intercooler mounted on top of the engine, WRX style, and Iv'e also added a blow-off valve.  I was gonna have the hood painted to match the  truck, but I kind of like it. I do still have the original blue hood. Carbon fiber boost and A/F ratio gauges are mounted in a pillar gauge pod.

the transmission is a G52 that the previous owner had rebuilt and upgraded to a G54.

it's an 84, so front and rear solid axles, stock. all the steering linkage has been replaced with new toyota parts. gear ratio is 4.88. right now it has about 2" of lift and sits on near new BFG MT 32"s on Mickey Thompson Classic II rims. shocks are new RS5000's. truck rides and handles as well as my tacoma.

the body is about as cherry as you're ever gonna find. no rust on it ANYWHERE. the rear quarters have been replaced with fiberglass pieces from toyotafiberglass.com so they will never ever rust. truck was painted peterbuilt blue-grey last fall. the ARB front bumper has a Ramsey REP8000 in it and the controller is hardwired to a switch panel in the dash. the rear bumper is a Stout Industries with tire carrier and jerry can rack.

everyhting works in the truck, it's the kind of vehicle you get in and go and dont' think twice about it.

the only things I have left to do on the truck are to finish assembling the air conditioning on it, and gear the front axle 4.88 to match the back. all this would be done before time of sale.

so what do you think it'll bring?

You have an extremely nice Runner! I would have no idea on what you could sell, but I can only imagine how much you have invested.

The 1st thing you have to do is take all the value of your blood, sweat and tears in building your baby and throw it in the trash. Nobody cares about how much of you went into the building of your rig. If you can do this, you may now proceed forward and calculate the true value of your rig. Get out your calculator and total all the parts you've added that the truck didn't come with like lockers, full roll cage, winch bumper etc, etc. Now total up parts you added that you replaced that the rig did already have like seats, center console, carpet, etc, etc.

Take the total of parts you added and subtract 30% of that total, next take the total of parts you replaced and subtract 50% (40% if you replaced cloth for leather). Now add these totals together with the current market value of your rig at the blue book price and see if you like that price and don't bring your bst back into your mind. I did this when I traded my truck for my Sammi, the Sammi won hands down so I did the deal. I also do this when I've sold stuff in the past works pretty good. Sure you paid good $ for all those parts you added but someone interested in it sees used parts no matter how long they've been there except for drivetrain rebuilds.

that's one serious formulation you've got going there.

First of all looks like a well done runner.

It will never be worth what it should be worth, look at replacement cost and what your buck will get you. a fresh different money pit, Its got to be worth 8400.00 maybe on the high side but not for a toy of this caliber.

thanks for the compliments. my guess was $7k for the 'runner, so maybe I'm not completely nuts, just mostly nuts

the impetus for a sale is the fact that there's a derelict 69 Camaro convertible down the street that I might be able to snag. I'm still torn on whether or not to sell the 4runner to finance another project, but I have this crazy idea to stick a first gen camaro body on a Typhoon or Syclone chassis that's been knocking around in the back of my head for some time now ;)

A buddy of mine locally here in PA has a  clean 69 Camaro (Good yenko knock off) he was fetching 12000.00 for it, They command a good number in any shape. it is mind boggling the money involved. The Camero was my first car and somehow ended up off road in a toyota pickup not getting sppeding tickets
hell you could drink beer 4 wheel and it was a nice  change, the rest is history.
