Swamp Lake?

Does any know if the Swamp Lake Trail is open this time of year and if so what are the conditions?

I was up on bald on the 17th.  We ran into the forest service and they said they were going to open the trail.

Cool, thanks for the info.  I talked to a someone yesterday at the Prather Ranger Station and they told me it was closed right now.  I hope they open it soon because I am quickly getting bored of Bald Mtn.

On friday the 22nd we went in to do a trail check from both sides. The south end we only made it about 3/4 of the way up the main hill before you get to Hatch Lake. We cleared a few trees & were stopped by lots of snow.
The north end we cleared more downed trees & ran out of time.

I would be surprised if the trail is open before the 1st or 2nd week in July.

I can't believe there is still that much snow up there.  Well I will anxiously awaiting its opening.     It will be my first time and I have heard nothing but great things about it.

Swamp has lots of north facing slopes that take a while to melt.  As of Saturday it was still closed.  Email www.4WDCFresno.com to get the real low down.  They have adopted that trail.
