Wow nice.  Love to see some more pictures of that.  I swear if that'd been me I would've gone over.  But really sweat shot.  You getting an EFI motor now?? haha

here's where it stopped :)

I might do EFI sometime...right now its no biggie but I'm sure at some point this summer I will do it. Gotta put a new head on and get my friend to wire it, but I'm in no rush.

well I picked up an EFI head, so I'm going to take it in to get pressure tested and cleaned next week. Maybe I will get EFI in this summer :dunno:
I think I've been kickin' it old school long enough  :) That way next time it goes up on its tail, I can hit reverse and back up.

I need to rebuild the steering box, or at least re-seal a couple spots in it and that should be all I am going to do for the summer*besides the EFI :)) I'm really itching to camp and wheel this summer so more mods are going to wait. I have a set of SAW 2.5" air shocks hanging in the garage and all of my heims and brackets for front links

Converting my 84 to EFI was one of the best mods I've done.  I actually swapped everything over (fuel lines, tank, wiring harness) and rebuilt a 22RE.  I've had mine at all angles and all elevations around CO and it runs great!

I love that color orange!  I really want to paint my 4Runner orange but there are already two XJ's in the 4wheel drive club I belong to that are painted orange.  Now I'm thinking the old school Ironman stadium racing theme

Your truck looks great with the addition of the bed sides!  Bring it down to Penrose  :beerchug:

thanks I'll be down there soon. For some reason I've been all over but haven't made it back to Indy in like two years
I've got everything I need now for EFI, I'm going to make it a priority this spring, my old 3.0 would run on any angle, so it was a little wierd learning to drive with 3 feet to keep it running at goofy angles :)

It mostly sucks on big verticle climbs, stuff like rockpile on Pritchett, though I can make it, I would make it on the first shot everytime if it wouldn't bog out just as it breaks over :)

little more progress lately...though it doesn't seem like much. I am getting it ready for paint slowly, I've been sanding it. I think by the first week or two of May I'll have it painted. I am thinking a bright yellow. I've been quietly debating colors for a couple months now and I can't come up with anything. Friends I wheel with already have blue, red, orange, green...no one has yellow and my wife suggested it with black tubes, call it the rumblebee  :)
I'm going to try and find some rumblebee stickers that go on the bed of the rumblebee edition dodge trucks to put on y bedsides :)

unless of course I change my mind again :-\

anyhow, besides sanding I installed a new set of fenders since the old ones were pretty beat, and I welded up my side markers since I don't use them anymore and I wanted to clean it up a bit. I have more trimming to do on them and then its almost ready for paint.

put it in with the tack tack tack method, turned out pretty good :)

Nice "markers"  Yellow would look cool but what about doing say slate gray or black with yellow.  That'd be different?  Do the reverse of the rumble bee dodge.

I actually think I finally have it figured out, metal flake orange over khaki. orange will wrap over the fenders about 2" down from the hood line all the way back and the bottom portion will be a satin finish khaki.

stay tuned, trying to get it painted in the next few weeks :)

Nice!!!  I've always been an orange fan myself!  Two XJ's in a 4wheel drive club I run with are orange.  I really wanted to paint my 4Runner orange but with 2 of them already, a third would look like a circus :)  I really like the dark gunmetal / slate grey color as well.  I just need to find somebody that makes it in a spray paint can :)

well its been a while since my last update, but I've been way to busy on my new YZ450F :)

I broke one of the studs that holds the leafs to the housing...again. So its done, the leafs are sold, shocks are sold too. I am working on links as we speak, will post pics up later. 2.5" SAW air shocks will be going in, with a 3 link/panhard combo. So far so good, I prepped everything this past week, and so far today I have three links complete. I am going to build panhard mounts here shortly  8)

I got a lot done for one day, both lowers are in, upper is in. The real trick is going to be the panhard bar...got it mocked up and it was perfect until we looked at the shock mounts. I am using 2.5 SAW airs and they are really fat. There was no way it would clear the bold for the panhard so out it came. I'm going to rework it this week and hopefully have it back on wheels within a week

Moab is in two weeks  so it will be ready

I got it from ruffstuffspecialties. Its got another cap that fits over it, but using it would make me raise it another 2". I am going to run a tube across the housing from it that will be plated to the longside, and the panhard and shock mounts will be tied into it also.

I got the panhard mocked up last night and then screwed the brackets up by drilling a 9/16 hole for the shocks :shake:they are 1/2". So tonight I recut and re mocked the axle side of the panhard about 3/4" more forward, so this time it looks like it will clear the shocks :)

Hoping to get shock mounts mocked up tomorrow night and then assuming everything clears I can cycle it.

It will definately be on wheels this weekend :)

got some more done tonight...got the panhard mocked up and into place. Its about dead level with the drag link. Bear in mind the entire thing is being built at full stuff too :)

Got one shock mount built, and the shock tacked into place. I figured I would need to move the bump mounts, but it doesn't look like it. I am pretty sure I will anyway, to make it less work to build pads. Going to mount the other shock tomorrow night....SUPER tight to the air cleaner, and the master cylinder on the driver side. Lots of boxing bracing and welding to come, but need to make sure everything clears first :)

got some more done, shock mounts are pretty much done. The shocks sit at 7 degrees back, and 15 degrees in. Panhard clears the steering lock to lock fine, but its really tight in there.
