The line locks solenoid will burn out if you leave them on for an extended period. you can use a Manuel line lock like the one from Downey or get a hydro shut off valve like Grainger,  http://www.grainger.com/production/info/granger-industrial-supply.htm

Yup, I was going to say the same thing. Use a manual shut off valve. You just hold the brakes down, pull the lever out, and then let off the brakes and they are locked on. Then the next time you step on the brakes, the lever automatically deactivates.

what's the price on the downey unit? i;m in Canada so the call to Cali for a price would be a little costly. Also i could find the manual unit on the Granger website.

I must be an idiot :dunno:  I can't find the shut off valve on granger either.

I've been looking at fixing my e-brake, but this may be a better way.

Another option is to run your E brake cable back through the firewall and connect it to the brake pedal so when you pull the E brake it applies all the brakes.

This is nice for when you need both feet for the clutch and gas, you can work the brakes with your hand.

I've tried the "Jamar" push the brake pedal down and push the knob and release the pedal kind.
They suck, nice when they are new but after about ten usages they gum up and won't release anymore - so then your stuck out on the trail trying to release your friggen brakes (maybe it was just a VW thing, but brake fluid is brake fluid) The Granger manual valve seems like a worth while try - you got leverage on them.

Weldo

To use the Grainger valve, where do you connect it to lock all four wheels?  Wouldn't you need 2 valves because no one brake line ever feeds all 4 wheels, right?  Also, you'd have to run some brake lines up into the cab so you could get to the valve while your foot is on the pedal.  Is this right, how did some of you guys do this mod, I'd like to beef up my parking brake capacity.
