We are planning on a vacation to Fresno, and then on to Disneyland in July.  I plan on putting in a cb in the Zwald Family Cruiser, aka mini-van.  I plan on a simple magnet mount, but I'm really in need of what channels are the truckers and everybody running between Corvallis/Eugene, Oregon to Disneyland?  Just for the simple fact that if there's an accident or some type of problem on the road that we can bypass it somehow!  Around where I live, we use ch. 17 for everything.  Is that the normal channel for everybody?  Please, some info would be great!

Truckers usually use 19 and 9 is for emergencies.  I think this is the universal stuff, there might be some local channels in the area as well.

CB is mostly garbage these days, not much with the truckers. When you get down towards So Cal dial 1070am KNX for local traffic to Disney. When you get to the 91 freeway on the I-5 there is a new carpool lane, use it there is a carpool exit for Disneyland that takes you directly into the parking areas.

Also depending on when you are coming through L.A. there are several alternate routes:

I-210 east to SR-2 south and then back to the I-5 south if you are coming during the crush this will bypass the traffic into downtown for the most part. If there is a problem on the I-5 into OC get on the 110 frwy south, this will take you through downtown but once through there is a carpool lane that flys, take it to either the I-105 east or the SR-91 east. If you take the 105 it will end at the 605 take it south to SR-91 east then to the I-5 south. If you take the SR-91 east just go to the I-5 south.

I-210 east to I-605 south to I-5 south, this bypasses L.A. completely.

I-210 east to I-605 south to SR-91 east to I-5 south, again bypassing L.A.

If you use the 605 it will add about 10 miles to your drive but is well worth it to avoid downtown.

If you get to the 605 and there is trouble keep going east to the 57 fwy south, get off at Ball rd., turn right and that will take you to DL.

most truckers use 19,  but these days  alot of the real truckers  dont turn it up enough to hear unless your right next to them  or like me  if i was in a hurry  and really needed  bear reports  i'd have it turned all the way up

don't know where you all are getting your info about truckers not useing cb's. If your traveling I-5 use channel 17 if your heading east west on anyother roads its channel 19. Most of us truck drivers don't talk on them during the day, too much crap on there then. Its also pretty easy to tell truckers from 4wheelers aka cars.

miks85yota

i just put it on 19 and leave it when i hit the road, thats what everyone anyplace ive gone is talkin on

Rocktoy2

17 in Cali 19 outside of Cali. You will get some people using 19 in Cali though. Most of the chatter is just noise. If something happens you will hear about it long before you get to it. It has helped me a number of times when I had to commute in my truck. Turn the squelch up high so you only hear people close to you then the noise isn't to bad. Of course the "AUDIO" yoyos are always out there running a million watts.

miks85yota

well im a truck driver, and wether im in cali or any part of the country, the only channel that is on is 19

biteme

well hate to bust everybodys bubble, but if you drive I-5 Its channel 17. from Cali. to Canada. :slap: and log trucks in Washington normally run channel 14.

MR_DIY

I'm a driver as well and I only get on 9 and 19... wish the other channels were for the stupid kids and yoyo's that wanna chatter
I'm going yota JUST so I can buy from Marlin more.
