Injectors
« on: May 23, 2006, 01:12:01 AM »
I am converting my carb engine to fuel injection. I was just wondering what kind of injectors are the best for a stock engine.

I think the later model orange and blue injectors are 200cc, and the early style gray injectors are 180-ish cc

The reason I posted this is because this is the first time i have messed with fuel injection and I have had alot of problems with the local parts stores trying to give me the wrong parts.

you arent going to get OEM injectors at a local parts store most likely.... they will sell you whatever brand they have

This is how LC Engineering lists 'em.

22RE Type-C (83-88) 195cc 2.5 OHM
22RE Type-E (88)
22RE Type-F (89-95) 195cc 12.5 OHM

As far as the color goes, I got the Type-F ones for my truck, they are red.
LC sells them in sets of four for about $200 with a $50 core.  They are rebuilt and equalized.

You have to match the injectors to the harness. For example the 88s are year specific...one year only. So, if your scabbing parts make sure to get everything you can from the donor truck.

Thanks for your help fellas. I decided to just go with some of the lc injectors. I was just going to get some from a local parts store but they were charging 240 bones.

Well im broke so im now unable to go with the lc injectors. Is there a way to test my old injectors. They look pretty decent. All it looks like they need is the rubber bushing that goes over the cap. Does anyone know where i can get the rubber pieces? :help:

Well you can send them in to get tested. Team Ramrod did that. Heres a link to his buildup:

Another place is to service your injectors is http://www.rceng.com/

What year did the EFI system you have come out of? I have (somewhere) a set of LC injectors for an 88. I will not be using them.

what im doing is putting my 22r in a fuel injected 86 runner. All I really want to  do right now is get it running. the injectors look alright for now i just need the o rings and the rubber bushing that is over the cap. I will get some new ones as soon as I get some cash.

when you have the cash, send your injectors to cruzin performance (google it) for $50 they clean and test your injectors and ship them back. they also give yout the spec sheet for the test on-line as soon as it's done, which is pretty cool, too.
MAKE SURE YOU GET NEW O RINGS AND INSULATORS!
make sure they're TOYOTA. accpet no substiutes. I tried three different o-rings on my injectors before sucking it up and paying $4/oring at the Stealer. but they work. cheap crappy harbor freight o-rings just spew gasoline down the intake and onto the ground.
