3 link rear
« on: May 16, 2006, 07:57:42 PM »
i'm going to build a 3 link in the rear of my 4runner.  I have lower made, just need to finalize the upper link.  I want to run it straight above driveline like a traction bar and then run a panhard bar.  Lowers will be same location as leaf springs.  My lower are 4130 .375" :inthedark: wall with Johny's, and they are 44" long.  i will be using air shocks.  The upper link would mount in the center with two mounts above each other like a 2link traction bar.  does anyone have pic of use straight style, i have seen one 4runner that was a the cover of 4wheeldrive it was orange it had something like this, need pictures.  Billy

Sounds like your ass end will walk beside you.

Why not just run the standard 4 link. triangled uppers and parallel lowers. run bushings at the diff and your JJ at the crossmember. you will not need a panhard if you run that setup

Dude Billy whats up this is pat.  I've seen a few 3 links and they all had the lowers set up like the leaf springs then they had the one upper and the panhard both sharing a mount on the passenger side.  With that setup you can still use the stock gas tank and supposidly they drive good.  One of the trucks was in santarosa from a guy I bought some stuff off and he had those johnny joints  and the other was  fourrunner I saw in santa rosa but I didn't get a close look

ya,i saw that setup on the white runner on pirate...but no panhard bar, the top link/triangle keeps it laterally stabile, hence NO track bar....but i dunno about that on the street...but im doin it anyway...

the top triangle you can mount on the main frame crossmember...

measure n see how long it'd be and just make the bottoms the same length

yes...thats right...but not too long...id say 8" longer...if its too long it'll pitch down alot...make mock-up links n cycle the suspension to check...and adjust accordingly
