I was just wondering if this can be done? I don't really want to put a 3.4 in my truck since I feel that the 3RZ will get better fuel mileage and it has plenty of power.

Simple answer, yes, with enough money, time, skills and intestinal fortitude, anything can be done.  More complicated answer, still yes, but there are many contributing factors.  Legally it can be done, but there are parameters you need to follow.  Physically there are many parts you will need to change, and probably source, but it is possible, and a good idea.  That being said, and understanding your motives, I'd still opt for the 3.4, but this is your project, not mine

I was also thinking the same about the 3.4. I know the 3.4 will get better fuel mileage than the 3, but its huge!
Also, I know where there is a 3.4 with tranny and t-case for $500 but it has no computer... is that not worth the money?

As long as it's a known good engine, YES!  Not sure how much a computer and harness would be though.

thats what I was thinking, but I heard that the engine might not run right if it doesn't have the origonal computer. Is this true?
