Hi everyone!!!
im new to the whole "4 wheel driving" scene if you want to call it that.
i have a jeep cherokee and i think its a 90 or 91 im not really sure but it has leather and power seats if that helps. anyways...my friend has a toyota and it has big tires and stuff.  i was "4 wheeling a couple of days ogo and i broke something. people told me it was a driveshaft, whatever that is, and they said that wouldnt ever happen again if i welded my "u-joints". so tomorrow im going to get some help from my friends and weld my u-joints.  they said that if i just held the welder gun on the u-joints for a while it would make them stronger and my "driveshaft" wouldnt ever brake again. what do all of you think?

thanks a lot for your help. i cant wait to get this fixed and go four wheeling again

 You have some awesome friends, they are so smart. Welded u-joints why didn't I think of that? That made me think about welding other stuff too. I'm gonna try welding my pinion to my ring gear to keep from breaking the teeth, and so I don't have to go through the expense of high steer I'm going to weld the ball joints up.

OK, for the record, you can't weld u-joints.   The joint is there so that the driveshaft can articulate when your suspension moves.  So I am not sure what your friends are talking about.  :dunno: If your driveshaft failed, you would have had to remove it before you drove any farther, or at the very least put your rig in 2 wheel drive. So maybe, we can help if you can describe what exactly happened. Any really bad sounds?  :_order: Did your rig quit moving?   Did your friends point and laugh?  :bumpinbutts: Let us know! We are here to help.  :grad:

for those of you who took it seriously....... i feel bad for you....
im was kidding about all of it.  except for the fact that my reardrive shaft pinion yoke has broken twice and the ujoint broken 3 times.
im not asking for any opinions on how to fix it im just letting you know thats what some friends and i joke about, welding u-joints.
im new to the marlin board but somewhat experienced when it comes to wheelin and working on my xj.
im 16 and from NOR*CAL. i have an xj 6" lift 33's hacked fenders, welded dana 44, and lots of other stuff.
i know and have wheeled with FFC if anyof you know her. she did the SAS on the amigo :clap2:
ok well then..... i thought that was a good way to start off a first post.

I don't think he did tank trap, and the "almost roll" on White Rock was crazy.  He got to the top and had his front tires bout a foot down from the road ledge... for some reason the ground just started sliding out from under him and pulled him down the hill OFF the road onto the side of the hill.  Pullin him out he was on 2 tires for a lil bit, but he pulled through
