Rubicon june 9-11 be there or be square
« on: May 08, 2006, 05:28:17 PM »
I'm gonna go to the rubicon june 9-11.  Hopefully as many people as possible will come but dont come if you don't enjoy partying with a younger crowd of people and I am not allowed to say what that might entail.  I'll go up friday afternoon and wheel into little sluice and then wheel a bunch more the next day and camp somewhere else probably buck island and then up and out cadilac hill the next day

Depends on how much progress I get done on the rig. If its half ass done i'll cruise in.

Maybe i'll try and get Rudy or John to go so I can ride with one of them if my shia-z isn't done.

Friends of the Rubicon are once again recommending staying off the trail during the high melt period and the short time after when the trail is the wettest without snow on it. This includes MD weekend and probably the first few days of june too.

If you do choose to go please remember to TREAD SMARTLY The means not only tread lightly but know when to put the hammer down and when to take it easy. The Sierras are a sensitive ecosystem, the harsh conditions cause things to grow slowly. A tree that looks 10 years old could be more like 100.

When the dirt is still wet from snow melt, it breaks up faster. This last weekend I was at Loon Lake and saw 4-6 feet of snow with drifts up to almost 8 feet. At 70 degrees it "can" melt a foot a day. There has not been a 70 day yet. It was about 60-61 on Sunday. Sac is forecast to be in the 70s for several days meaning the high country is going to be 10-20 degrees cooler.

you could probably make it but for the sake of having an all around good trip for everyone and not leaving anyone along I would say its best you go some other time.  All the trucks on this trip are gonna be locked geard and on 37s and moving along the trail quickly

without lockers and gears.. your going to be frying that clutch and/or bashing it up the trail.

damn you pull that thing out and check the clearances per the instructions because im 99% sure there out of wack.  get a new carrier and you should be good to go.  If not just get a new carrier and weld it up.  You got almost a month to do a 2 hour job

Its bad when the whole truck jars back and forward and metal on metal clanking/poping/terrible clicking coming from the rear end. I want a spool for the rear. I really dont have time to pull it apart. I dont even have money for gear oil to take it apart. The gallon that I bought fell off my toolbox and went all over the floor (yes it was brand new too). That fully sucked
