Milemarker has been around awhile,  i would prefer Warn  but if its cheaper

Ya i thought about warn but i have heard warn is made alot cheaper that the older ones, as for the milemarker the price is right and have been hearing good things about them.

Warn  is top of the line,  how much is the MM??   800 for a 8000 lb is about normal

mile marker is good winch, it relies on gear reduction instead of Horse power. So it is SLOWER than a Warn or Ramsey but it pulls like a mule. I had to custom "water proof" mine so the electircal box didn't get wet and start wiggin out on me. Other then that its a great winch for the price and it'll save your @$$.

look into the winches summit racing is now selling.  You can get a 9000 for $450 to your door and it specs out better than the warn

my buddy has a hydrolic 9000lb milemarker it works good every time we need it. slow as hell.
i bought my warn 8274 old and used for $400 will out pull his mm. and by the time he gets his cable in i could be down the trail and relaxing

I've got the MM 12,000. It is slow but in my opinion the drum is too small and the cable will easily wind to one side when under a load and break the housing. That said it was covered under warranty. A friend also did the same thing with his 9,000 MM. My old (1970's) Ramsey never had this problem. It was a 8,000 with 150' of cable.

personally i would go with a hydraulic, far less likely to overheat, and comes waterproof from the factory (very nice if u do water crossings or mudding), works underwater as well. hydraulics will pull at a faster rate under max load than an electric will, and much quieter. just my
both warn and milemarker are great, personally i'd go for the mm. even if you do have a problem it comes with a warrenty, so y pay the extra money? just have to watch that the cable doesnt build up too much in one spot. not that hard

ur right, forgot to mention that. but if you run an electric winch for an extended period with the engine off, ur battery will be dead. (depending on ur battery could only take 1 or 2 minutes with cheapo batts)

Thats why i am useing two batteries.
