Which way to mount front springs
« on: Apr 22, 2006, 06:52:50 AM »
I picked up a pair of 82 Toy front springs for a project I'm working on and I just want to confirm I'm mounting them in the direction Toyota intended.  So, does the military wrapped eye go to the front or the back.

Thanks.

The military wrap goes in the fixed position (opposite of the shackle end).

:yesnod: Military to the front, and the left & right springs are different due to the different spring mount locations on the axle. If you mix them up you will end up with a leaner and have to switch them left to right.

Thanks guys.  I had them installed that way when I mocked it all up but I wasn't 100% that was correct.  They are going on my Jeep so I'll have to play with the side to side.  I added one leaf to each pack to handle the extra weight and they are right at the same height now.  I have some shims to go with the perches I installed if I need to adjust it any.

Thanks again

Oh, a Jeep? Hmmm, I wonder if you still put the wrap on the front? Is the shackle still up front on yours? I don't think it matters since the wrap is there to hold everything together if you break your springs and it wouldn't work if they were to the rear. I believe I was told the wrap always to the front on my sami which is set up like a Jeep.
