Dumb question but will a header for a 22R fit the 22RE?  After looking at the stock exhaust manifold for my 22RE, it's cracked and been welded.  I can get a header for a 22R for cheap.

Thanks!  :turtle:

I'm not positive, but I think the exhaust ports are a differant shape.

Ports should be the same it's the EGR and O2 bung that you gotta make sure it has, some 22r headers have EGR some don't (depending on who's header and what year they're for etc)

22R's  had a round exhaust port  with a small port above for the egr,  most headers block this off,  on a efi  you will need this port for the o2 sensors to work right i think

the 22RE  has pear shaped ports

22r's have pear shaped ports also. i just took a 86 22r apart today and it has pear shaped ports. 89 and later 22re's have the o2 sensor in the exhaust not the manifold itself. if the header blocks the egr ports just drill them out.

glen, there are 2 versions of the 22r... the early version and later version, the later version was 85+ and had the same pear ports as the 22re, however the earlier 22r had round ports

my 85 22r has pear ports, both engines of mine
